Until that first hit, butterflies fill the stomachs of players and coaches ahead of tonight’s Campbell at Cherokee High non-region football game.

Cherokee was two touchdowns short of a seven-win campaign last year and finished 5 & 5 .  The Chiefs return their starting quarterback.

Campbell ended with a 7 & 4 mark making the playoffs for a school record five-straight times.  In the 2017 season opener, the Cougars outpaced Cherokee on Pat Kerr Field 48 to 20.

“We were focused and locked in today at practice.  We are excited about getting the 2018 season started,” said Coach Justin Price after Thursday’s practice.  It was the final session before today’s first game of the season.

Price adds, “We will work to reach our potential each week.”

The team leaves this afternoon at 2:15 pm for Rogersville.  Kick-off is 7:30 pm.
