Preliminary work on the North 11th Street Bridge, behind the big Riggs, started today. The old wooden cross-tie bridge was torn down in 1992 and replaced with the current concrete bridge. In those days, an official with CSX explained that CSX would build another cross-tie bridge and maintain it or it would build a concrete bridge and the City would maintain it. the City opted for the concrete bridge that lasted about 26-years.
