What started out as a plan to get her neighbor in trouble, ended with a trip to jail.

On Tuesday night, LaFollette Police Officer Robert Foxx answered a call about a possible domestic disturbance. The caller, who was later identified as Charlene Faye Lawson, told 911 dispatch she could hear someone yelling in the apartment next to hers, that she allegedly identified as 306. Foxx went to the apartment, spoke with a woman who said she had been asleep and that she lived alone, according to a report from the LPD.

At this point, Foxx was joined by Officer Cory Lawson. Foxx checked with dispatch to ensure he had the correct apartment number and was told the person who called was Charlene Lawson. Foxx and Lawson returned to the apartment to ask Charlene Lawson about the situation. She denied calling the police and disavowed any knowledge of the call.

The officers then went back to their vehicles and received a message to call dispatch. When officers called, they were told Charlene Lawson had allegedly called back to dispatch saying she didn’t need to see an officer. Lawson had called 911 because she was having a problem with her neighbor and had gone too far in calling 911, the report said. Officers returned to the apartment to again question her.  They received a second denial.

Foxx again called dispatch and got the number the woman had called from. While Officer Lawson was speaking with the woman, Foxx called the number and Charlene Lawson’s phone began ringing. This time, Lawson allegedly admitted to lying and calling 911 to cause problems for the neighbor the report said. It was determined during this time that nothing had occurred between Charlene Lawson and her neighbor that day or evening.

Lawson, 55, 127 Ridenour Lane, Apt. 306, LaFollette was charged with filing false police report and abuse of 911.  She is out on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on Tuesday, December 11.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/26/2018-6AM)
