A Lake City (correction)  woman is in the Campbell County Jail tonight facing multiple charges including possession of a stolen vehicle.   Jacksboro Police Department Officer Zach Wright responded to the call of a stolen car just before 4 pm Monday afternoon.  He spotted the car and its driver between Jacksboro and Caryville on the four lane, according to JPD Chief Danny Chapman.  The driver of the 2018 car, 32-year old Kayla McCoy, failed to yield to Wright’s blue lights and siren, and a pursuit began as rain continued to fall.

The car headed down Highway 116 out of Caryville and eventually turned onto Cherry Bottom Road in south Campbell County.  Campbell County Deputies joined in the pursuit.  Dispatchers with 911 report  speeds reached 70 MPH and higher on the narrow curvy roads.  Officers lost sight of the car near Shady Cove Road. About 15 minutes later, CCSD Sergeant Joe Hopkins found the car with the engine running in the driveway of a home on White Oak Lane. Within five minutes, Hopkins radioed he had McCoy at gunpoint at the home.

Wright charged McCoy with felony evading arrest, possession of a stolen vehicle, second offense driving on a suspended license and reckless driving. There was also a hold placed on McCoy by Anderson County.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/12/2018-7:30PM-PHOTO COURTESY OF THE CCSD)
