The Campbell County Cougar Basketball team did not play any pre-season scrimmages.  All the more reason former Cougar Darrell Cox knows his team is ready to play against somebody else. The Cougars get that chance tonight when Oneida visits John Brown Gym for the season opener.

The first-year coach explains that his team has been running since May and playing all summer.  Cox said, “I just thought we needed to work versus play someone in a scrimmage.”

Cox is excited to see what they (the Cougars) put together and how they come together.  He notes that this team is young, but it has lots of juniors and seniors though they do not have much actual game playing time under their belts.

Fans should not be surprised if they see a couple of freshmen start and play tonight.  Cox points out that after a start and a game, they won’t be freshmen anymore.

Coach Cox is looking for a big hometown crowd tonight.  SEE THE SCHEDULE HERE.

The JV game tips at 4:30 pm followed by the Lady Cougars versus Oneida.  The Cougars play in the night cap at 7:30 pm.
