It’s a new day for the Blue Devils of Jellico.

On Friday, Jellico High School Athletic Directory Danny Oakes officially introduced football coaching veteran Brent Peel as the Devils football coach.  Oakes said, “He brings a wealth of experience to JHS.”  Peel comes to Jellico after serving as head football coach at Jacksboro Middle School.

More than 20 Jellico football players were in attendance in the high school’s auditorium to hear Peel open up by saying, “Faith, Family and Football”  The man who played for Ken Sparks on national championship teams in the 1980s at Carson-Newman takes over after back-to-back undefeated regular seasons plus winning the 2017 TMSAA Class AAA Championship at Jacksboro.  JMS was the runner-up in the 2015 and 2018 championship games.

“You will work harder than you’ve ever worked before,” said the new head coach to his new team.  He stressed to his players to get out into the hallways and encourage other students to come out for football.  He was joined by his assistants, Travis Leach, Derek Turner and Justin Crabtree.
