Charles Franklin Petitt, age 90, of Hialeah, FL, formerly of Campbell County passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019.  He served his country for four years in the US Navy.  Upon his return to Westbourne, he married Mildred Thomas. They had four children; Brenda, Gary, Larry, and Lisa.  Charles was a coal miner in Westbourne, worked in Baltimore Maryland for a time and then moved to South Florida, where he worked for Eastern Airlines as a mechanic and sheet metal foreman until he retired.

Known to his friends as Charlie and his family as Dad and Papaw, he enjoyed fixing things, searching for treasures at flea markets and junk shops, collecting coins, growing unusual plants, reminiscing about his days in Westboure, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Moose Lodge near his home for many years.  He also enjoyed animals and always had a special pet.  The most recent of which was his cat, Spot who brought him much happiness, especially during the last years of his life.  He will be forever in our hearts and will be greatly missed.  Preceded in death by wife, Mildred Petitt and son, Gary Petitt; parents, Samuel & Vista (Goins) Petitt; brothers, Everett Petitt, George Petitt; sisters, Willie Hamilton, Mary Nell Foster; companion and care giver Margie Lowell.
