Earlier story:

A bomb threat via social media late Monday night ended with a visit to the suspect’s home by the sheriff.  Sheriff Robbie Goins tells WLAF News that around 10 pm Monday night is when he and officers responded to the threat of a bomb at Jacksboro Middle School.  The investigation led them to the home of a Campbell County High School student, a male juvenile, at Demory.

Goins said the young man made the post look quite real with a photo actually taken last night at JMS.  Investigators located his address and knocked on his door.  The boy eventually admitted that there was nothing to it.  The investigation wrapped up around 1:30 am Tuesday morning.

School officials directed the youngster to not to report to school today, according to the sheriff.  This morning, Goins is meeting with the district attorney’s office seeking a juvenile petition.  Should it be issued, the boy will be summoned to court to answer to the events of Monday night.

The sheriff emphasizes, “We will not tolerate threats against our students, staff and teachers at our schools.  We take all threats seriously.”

Classes at Jacksboro Middle School began as scheduled this morning.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/22/2019-9:30AM)
