David Ernest Lay’s failure to use headlights cost him a trip to jail.

Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy John Minor was traveling east on Jacksboro Pike when he saw Lay and initiated a traffic stop. Lay was unable to produce a driver’s license, allegedly telling Minor he didn’t have a license. He continued that his license was revoked for DUI, a check of the license proved that his license was indeed revoked. Lay allegedly told Minor that he had taken three suboxone during the course of the day, according to a report from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department. After allegedly failing a series of field sobriety tests, Lay was arrested.

Lay, 38, 360 Abilene Circle, Caryville is charged with violation of light law, driving while revoked, violation of TN financial law, third offense driving under influence and violation implied consent law.

He remains housed in the county jail this morning.  Lay has a $10,000 secured bond.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/25/2019-6AM)
