A stalled pick-up truck broken down in both lanes of travel on Interstate 75 north at the 133 mile marker in Campbell County led to Friday night’s rollover of a big rig tanker loaded with 8,500 gallons of gasoline, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol accident report.

The report notes that Keith Creech of Jacksboro was stuck in the middle of I-75, broken down, just after 7:30 pm Friday night as a Dodge Charger driven by Daniel Jones of Dallas, Texas, and an 18-wheeler tanker truck with Jody Stafford of Jonesville, Virginia, came rolling over Vasper Hill.  Jones swerved out of the roadway to the right to avoid Creech while Stafford swerved to the shoulder to avoid the other vehicles that were stopped in the lane of travel.

The tanker left the roadway onto the right shoulder where it struck Jones’s Charger.  The big rig continued down the shoulder a short distance before proceeding into a ditch and tipping over.

All three drivers were wearing seat belts and were not injured.  No charges were filed.
