Community guided hikes set for Saturday will have pleasant weather conditions.  Ranger led hikes, Sat., April 27 , will provide a renewed experience of the beauty and history of the local region.

Sunny skies and mild temperatures go hand-in-hand with hiker’s plans as temps will be at 60-degrees at starting time and near 70 about three hours later.  The air will be dry making for comfy conditions.

Easy @ Indian Mountain State Park

Ballard Loop Trail – paved wooded loop with a history of the park

Medium–Difficult @ Cumberland Trail State Park

Devils Racetrack – elevation/rocky, Stand at the edge of the Cumberlands!

Cumberland Trail Meeting Place:  220 Park Rd., Caryville – Cumberland Trail Office

(blue house right after Cove Lake campground entrance) We will caravan to trail head

Indian Mountain State Park 143 Indian Mt. State Park Circle, Jellico

(Ballard Loop Trail)

Meeting Time:  11:00 am

Duration:  Devils Racetrack 2-3 hours (lunch at the top)

Ballard Loop ¾ mile leisurely pace. Approx 45 minutes – 1 hour

Bring:   Water, lunch snacks, backpack, close toed shoes, dress weather appropriate

Ages:    10 + children must be supervised by an adult

Small children must have close supervision due to rough terrain on Devils Racetrack
