LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Nature has hit hard again here in Campbell County.  As a result, lots of trees and utility poles are down east of La Follette prompting one partial road closing and lots of power outages.

Campbell County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck tells WLAF that Glade Springs Road was closed all night and has just reopened.  Dilbeck adds that there are trees down everywhere and his crews have been out since before midnight Thursday working to clear roads.  He cautions you as you drive that you may come across limbs, debris and trees in areas like Victory, Knox Hollow Road, Bethlehem, Alder Springs and some of Cedar Creek.

Dilbeck notes that though Glade Springs Road is open again, you need to avoid the area from Ivy Lane to Victory Church, because crews are working there blocking much of the road.  There’s lots of damage in that area with trees down Dilbeck adds.

As of 7 am, more than 1,091 customers of La Follette Utility Board are without power.  LUB General Manager explains that crews are working to restore power as soon as possible.

Last night’s storms are the third of three massive storms to hit Campbell County during the month of June.  The first was the historic flood on June 7, and the second was last Friday night on June 21.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/28/2019-6AM-PHOTO COURTESY OF ROAD SUPER RON DILBECK)
