JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins encourages you to keep yourself, your loved ones, neighbors and pets safe from this week’s high temps and high humidity.

Avoiding the heat of the day, drinking plenty of water and wearing light colored clothing are some the tips the sheriff offers while heat and humidity combine for “feels like temperatures” well into the 90s.  The sheriff reminds you that if it has a pulse, do not leave it in the car.

High temperatures are forecast to be in the lower 90s across the lower elevations of southeast and east central Tennessee Wednesday and Thursday, with Heat Index readings reaching the mid to upper 90s near Chattanooga and Cleveland. The Knoxville area will see Heat Index values in the mid 90s.

Practice heat safety during this period of hot weather. Drink plenty of water, wear light colored and breathable clothing, take plenty of breaks in the shade or air conditioned areas if available. Limit outside work during the hottest afternoon hours.  Never leave children or pets in vehicles; look before you lock!   (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/0s/2019-1PM)
