LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – In about 10 minutes, the City of LaFollette Council completed its agenda last night.

Resolution 2019-07 authorizing the City of LaFollette to participate in the TML Risk Management Pool (safety partners) loss control matching grant program was passed. Next up was Resolution 2019-09 proving in lieu tax payments from LaFollette Utilities. The amount of payments will be $1,612,000. Ordinance 2019-03 amending the City of LaFollette Fire Protection Fund and Distribution of Fund had its first reading. The ordinance details monthly rates for residential customers, $2; commercial customers, $10 and industrial customers, $10.

Bobby Frazier will become a full-time police department dispatcher effective July 6 at a salary of $22,495.20.

Council agreed for the city to participate in the county’s surplus auction later this month.

Gail Brown will serve temporarily as chairman of the beautification board.  Donnie Kitts served as chairman until his recent death. Mayor Mike Stanfield said the city will do a plaque in Kitts honor and complete the mural project on the side of Common Ground Coffee Shop that Kitts had wanted to do.

City Administrator Jimmy Jeffries reminded council that fireworks will be Friday, July 5, beginning at 9:30 pm and National Night Out will be Tuesday, Aug. 6. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/03/2019-6AM)
