LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Multiple units and officers with the La Follette Police Department surrounded a home at 1015 West Central Avenue just after 5:30 pm on Saturday afternoon.     Deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department soon arrived at the home located at the corner of West Central Avenue and North 23rd Street at the request of LPD to offer assistance.  Nearly three hours later, what one officer describes as a standoff continues.

Police tell WLAF that there is a man, believed to be armed, inside the home of what neighbors say is his girlfriend’s home.  A little after 6 pm, a First Responder Unit from the La Follette Fire Department was soon followed by the arrival of a Campbell County Ambulance.  Those units set up a staging area of sorts a block back on North 21st Street.  At 6:30 pm, LPD called in the La Follette Utility Department to cut off the power to the crèam colored home with brown shutters where the man remained inside.

The staging area was on West Central Avenue at North 21st Street.

LUB employee Richard Goodman is escorted to the house by CCSD Deputy Dakota Williams.  Williams is telling Goodman to come to the right side to put the deputy between him and the house that’s just over the rise.
