LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Six dogwood trees were planted (TOP PHOTO) on July 15 in the big grassy area between the La Follette Public Library and the West La Follette Community Center.  Thursday at 5:30 pm, La Follette Mayor Mike Stanfield and LUB General Manager Kenny Baird will lead a ceremony to dedicate the trees to the memory of former city and LUB employees.

Mayor Mike Stanfield said the first tree, a pink dogwood, (above) is in memory of Conner Lane.  The other five trees, he pointed out, will be dedicated in memory of City and LUB employees.

La Follette Mayor Mike Stanfield said, “This is a joint effort between the city and the La Follette Utilities Board (LUB) to memorialize former employees (and their families) with the trees.”  The mayor added there is a mix of two pink and four white dogwood trees.

The first dogwood tree was planted at the corner of West Beech Street and South 9th Street on July 15.  (Left to right) Stan Foust, Jr.(with shovel), Adam Hutson, Casey Boshears (neon shirt), Steve Turner and Brandon Stanford.
