CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Yesterday evening as children played and laughed on a nearby playground, the Friends of Cove Lake hosted a Campbell County Chamber of Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to introduce the new Little Free Library at Cove Lake State Park. The Little Free Library  is a book exchange for all ages.   See more Lindsey Hutson photos HERE.   Adults and children alike can have an adventure through books while enjoying the great outdoors and beautiful scenery of the park. People are more than welcome to take the books home and bring them back or even keep them as well. The Friends of Cove Lake just asks that more books be brought in to replace the ones taken so that everyone always has access to a book.  According to Cove Lake State Park Manager Casey Hatmaker, the library has already been used by several people.

This library was made possible by many people working together. Many members of the Friends of Cove State Lake Park and the park staff put in time and effort for this. Tony and Freda Branam brought the idea before the group as well as built the box to contain the books. President of the group, Brandi Carson, acquired the mini grant of $500 through the Friends of Tennessee State Parks to pay for all building materials for this library and another that will be placed in the campground area. This mini camper is in the works and will be placed as soon as possible.  George Tackett, a freshman at Campbell County High School, painted the beautiful design which includes many of the State of Tennessee’s symbols such as the state flower, butterfly, and bee.

The Friends of Cove Lake wants to extend a special thank you to the Caryville Library for donating the books to stock the Little Free Library.

They would also like to invite anyone to join them for their monthly meetings every first Monday at 6 pm in the recreational building.
