JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Jacksboro campus of the Tennessee College of Applied Technology, is starting a Retail, Hospitality and Tourism program today (Sept. 3).

The retail, hospitality and tourism industry leads the future as one of the largest growing career sectors not only in Tennessee but in the country. This program will graduate highly skilled professionals who possess a deep understanding of the industry and its many facets and available opportunities.

The main focus will be on developing student’s technical skills via hands-on and problem-based learning in basic retail management, hospitality supervisory fundamentals, customer service essentials, and information and communication technologies. IC3 Digital Literacy, the National Retail Federation, and the American Hotel and Lodging Association training and certifications are integrated into the program maintaining quality assurance and access to leading industry participants.

Students will be able to gain essential skills in management, marketing, sales, business promotion techniques and operations of recreation events, attractions, food services retail stores, lodging and travel-related services.  They can also earn certification in National Retail Federation’s Advanced Customer Service and Sales, Retail Industry Fundamentals and Retail Management as well as American Hotel and Lodging Association’s Guest Service Professional, Hospitality and Tourism Management and more.
