LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Thursday evening will offer an opportunity to help The Children’s Center.

From 6 pm until 9 pm, there will be dinner, live music and two types of auctions, silent and live at the Ball Farm Event Center.

Staff at The Children’s Center is excited about this year’s auction items. From a basketball autographed by Pat Summit to five tickets to Disney, there will be a variety of items to bid on. Along with big ticket items, local items will also be available at the auction. These include gift baskets, football tickets and gift certificates for cakes, according to Maggie Inscho of the center.

The annual fundraiser is vital to the center’s operation. “We don’t charge for any of our services,” Inscho said. Those services include: advocacy, mental health services, case management, forensic interviews and education.

“There is such a need for these services in our community,” she said.

In the 2017- 2018 year the center conducted 217 forensic interviews, provided over 3,000 behavioral health sessions and presented educational presentations 130 times, according to statistics released by the center.

Thursday’s event will have tickets for purchase at the door for $25. All proceeds benefit the centers in Campbell, Claiborne and Union Counties. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 08/28/2019-6AM)
