LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell County Children’s Center hosted the 4th annual fundraising auction at the Ball Farm Thursday evening.   There were many high ticket items up for live auction including Disney and Dollywood tickets, a private plane ride, and autographed basketballs from UT coaches. The silent auction was just as impressive with donated items from Campbell County residents including paintings, quilts and crafts. There were also a couple of items up for raffle. There was a Stevens 12 gauge shotgun available for raffle that also included entry for a four man team spot (a $500 value) in the Clays for Children sporting tournament in Maryville at the end of September. Powell Clinch Utility District also donated a grill to be raffled off as well. One last bit of fun was a 50/50 drawing. For $10 you could buy a raffle ticket and could receive 50% of the raffle money back.

All proceeds made at last night’s event will stay in Campbell County to help our children. The Children’s Center never charges for any of its services which include forensic interviews, sexual abuse exams, and prevention programs in local schools to name a few.

The Children’s Center opened in March of 2001 in the old Hack Ayers home place. Within 10 years, the program had grown so much that a new building was needed. They are currently located behind Roane State Community College. They have also expanded into surrounding counties such as Claiborne and Union.

Executive director, Traci Davis, wanted to thank everyone for their support of the center.  They know there is power in numbers and hope to make more people aware of situations in our own county. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 08/30/2019-6AM)
