JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) –  A man recently said  he was talking to a female officer and a man named Daniel, but no one was with him.

Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Corey Laxton went to McDeerman Road on Sunday about a man standing in a yard. When the witness asked what he was doing, the man allegedly said he was talking to a female officer and was also talking to a guy named Daniel across the road.

When Laxton arrived, he found the man who was identified as Dakota Scott Lane, but no one else was there. Laxton saw where Lane was talking to “Daniel” and discovered it was a chain link fence he was talking to, according to a report from the sheriff’s office. Lane could barely talk due to him slurring his words and he appeared intoxicated. Lane denied having taken any narcotics but admitted to using Methamphetamine on occasion.

As Laxton was walking him to the patrol car, Lane was still talking to the chain link fence telling it bye.

Lane, 27, 111 East Center Avenue, Knoxville is charged with public intoxication. This is Lane’s 18th arrest, according to jail records. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/13/2019-6AM)
