Mae “Ruth” Nelson, age 84 of LaFollette went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 15, 2019.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  Ruth loved to cook, work in the garden, and being outdoors.

She is preceded in death by husband Paul Nelson, parents Cillis and Ollie (Brantley) Cox, grandson William Cody Nelson, brothers Clondo Cox, Jack Earl Cox, Wayne Cox, and Raymond Cox, sisters Wanda Annie Sharp and Bertha Cupp.

She is survived by children: Charles Nelson of LaFollette, Arnold Nelson & wife Magdaline of Caryville, Timothy Nelson & wife Kim of LaFollette, Jack Nelson & Sandy Marlow of White Oak, Rick Nelson & wife Edwina of LaFollette, Melissa Lay & husband Mark of LaFollette, Lechell Wall & husband Gary of LaFollette, Daniel Nelson & Maranatha Nelson of LaFollette. 23 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.  Brothers: J.C. Cox of Maynardville, Howard Cox of Tazewell, and Steven Cox of Sharps Chapel.  Sisters: Mary Lou Woods of Maynardville, Rachel Cox of Maynardville, and Linda Bowman of LaFollette.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM Tuesday, September 17, 2019 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home followed by funeral service at 8 PM with Rev. Derrick Hembree officiating.  Friends and family will meet 9:15 AM Wednesday, September 18, 2019 to go in procession to Nelson Cemetery for 10 AM graveside service.
