LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – There is that handful of memories we all have that we hold special to us.  One such memory for me is October 15, 1959; exactly 60 years ago today.

It was when my little black haired, black eyed brother came into the world at the La Follette Community Hospital.  I was a cotton top, and when Daniel Leinart Freeman came along, our mom said, “He can’t be my baby!”  But he was with some of those family Cherokee genes showing up.

For an almost three-year old boy getting his own baby brother was indeed a big deal.  And it’s still a big deal all these years later.

As the late Kim Russell would say, “Happy Birthday, Danch.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/15/2019-6AM)
