This is a look at what is being done to continue working on the bridge.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “There are no plans to tear down and replace that bridge (Central Avenue Bridge).  That repair work underway will continue,” said Mark Nagi to WLAF on Friday morning.  Nagi is the Region 1 Community Relations Officer for the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

Josh Metz addressed La Follette leaders and business owners on October 30.

Josh Metz is a District 19 Engineer for TDOT, and recently took over the Central Avenue Bridge project.  Metz met with Senator Ken Yager, a group of city leaders and business owners on October 30.  “It’s a 100-year old bridge (Central Avenue Bridge), and it’s not in good shape.  The concrete is pretty much bad,” Metz said at the gathering.

HERE is the story from that October 30 meeting.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/08/2019-10AM-PHOTOS  COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)
