LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – As Paul Wright, the longtime “Voice of the Owls” on WLAF, often said, “We’ve got a barn burner going on here.”  That was the case Monday night at the Valley View School Gym.  Jacksboro won the girls game while the boys game went down to the final second as the Jacksboro Eagles prevailed over Valley View by a final of 46 to 45.However, for one old ball player, it was a fun reunion with his old junior high coach from the 1960s (top photo).

Bob Harper was on hand last night to see his great grandson Caden Heatherly play for the Eagles and took time after the game for a photo.

Harper was born and raised in Glomawr, pronounced glo-mar, but he came to La Follette as soon as he could.   Glomawr was a tiny coal community in Kentucky, and Harper grew up a Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan.  He has spent the great part of his life and career right here in Campbell County and is still true to the Big Blue.

Thanks for the memories, Coach!  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/26/2019-6AM-PHOTO COURTESY OF ALI BRADEN)
