NASHVILLE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County native Issac Phillips recently graduated from the Tennessee Highway Patrol Academy. The graduation ceremony was held in Nashville on Dec. 14.    Phillips attended the academy there for the last 5 and a half months. He had his first day on the job last week.

According to his mother, Tracie Davis, her son always wanted to go into law enforcement. “It’s just in his blood,” Davis said, explaining her brother and nephews were also in law enforcement, and she is in social work. “We’re all very proud of him; as hard and scary as it is for him to be in law enforcement, I know he will do a good job,” Davis said.  “He is blessed with a good support group, especially his wife JoLynn, who was basically a single mom while he was away at the academy,” Davis also said the family appreciated the local law enforcement agencies who had supported her son.

Phillips first began his law enforcement career with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department in January of 2015, after graduating from Walters State Police Academy. He worked for the sheriff’s department  until attending the THP Academy in July of 2019.

His duties with the Tennessee Highway Patrol will include covering Campbell, Scott and Anderson Counties.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/07/2020-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF TRACIE DAVIS)
