LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – There’s a scam alert La Follette Chief of Police Bill Roehl wants you to know about.  The chief says it’s a “spoofing” or “fake caller ID” situation where a caller is using the name La Follette Police Department and the department’s phone number of 423.562.8331. It makes it look like you are actually getting a phone call from the La Follette Police.

The caller attempts to obtain personal information from you by scamming LPD’s name and number.  Roehl advises you to not give out any personal information, hang up and then call LPD at 562.8331.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 01/28/2020-NOON)
