LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – There was a packed house at Thursday afternoon’s City of La Follette Regional Planning Commission meeting. Most showed up to take part in the discussion of the new location of the Tennessee Valley Coalition for the Homeless Day Center. However, there were some other topics to go through first.

A subdivision of property located at 107 West Hill Street was discussed. The lot is currently a two-lot property and  the owner wants to divide the larger lots into three lots. According to La Follette Codes Officer Daniel Foster, the property would divide into the proper lot size and already has access to sewer, water and electricity. The motion passed.

Next, a tabled item from a previous meeting was addressed concerning property located at 207 West Central Avenue, the former City Glass building.  A representative for this property owner had asked for a property boundary expansion from the city that included a grassy area and the parking lot currently beside the tennis courts. The city would allow the grassy area to be taken but declined the inclusion of the parking lot due to the multiple uses it has including parking for the tennis courts and the church nearby. With inclusion of the grassy area, the property would total .95 acres. There is talk of a possible fast food chain looking into the property. Depending on the clients, this topic may resurface.

An in-home occupation for at an home computer, cloud based business was next.  The owner wouldn’t have a sales room or office. No signs would be placed outside. The motion was quickly approved.

The main concern, for the citizens in attendance of Thursday’s meeting, was the Tennessee Valley Coalition for the Homeless Day Center.   See that story HERE.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/28/2020-6AM)
