LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell County Animal Center and the sheriff’s department are seeking information in regards to an animal abuse death.

According to a social media post from the Campbell County Animal Center’s page, a small bulldog, which they are calling Jeremiah, was found dead inside a kennel and zipped inside a mattress cover in the water.
“Jeremiah’s body was recovered Thursday, May 28th at Miller’s Bridge in the fish hatchery area of La Follette.  He is a brown/brindle bulldog with a white head.  He died in his crate with his red food bowl.”
“Some days are bad. And then there are days when your heart breaks into a million pieces and you see something that changes how you feel about the world.  You realize that evil exists right here in our own community, and you just aren’t sure you are strong enough to keep doing this,” said animal center director Patricia Sawinski.  She and other animal center officials said they hoped someone in the public might be able to identify whoever did this.
“Someone out there knows who did this, or who Jeremiah was in his life.  So whoever you are, speak up. Use your voice and do the right thing.  Don’t let evil win,” Sawinski said.
The full post can be viewed on the animal center’s Facebook page.
