Active COVID-19 cases down to 113 in Campbell County

NASHVILLE, TN (WLAF) - As of Wednesday afternoon, the number of PCR positive tests for COVID-19 during the pandemic according to the Tennessee Department of Health is 293, and that includes 257 cases confirmed and probable (three more than on Tuesday).  Of the cases, 143 of those patients have recovered while 113 (active) patients are recovering and one patient has died.  Results through Wednesday from 6,286 COVID-19 tests in Campbell County have come back negative.


Yager announces library grants for Campbell County Public Libraries

NASHVILLE, TN (WLAF) - State Senator Ken Yager (R-Kingston) announced today that a combined total of $37,033 in library grants will be coming to 18 communities throughout  Senate District 12 and that includes $4,782 to the La Follette Public Library; $4,815 to the Jellico Public Library; $426 to the Jacksboro Public Library; and $764 to the Caryville Public Library.


School board discusses mask wearing, stops short of mandate

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) - The Campbell County Board of Education heard mostly good news concerning the opening of schools over the past few days, but the subject of whether or not to require the wearing of face masks by all teachers and staff ended with a "no decision," leaving the question to the discretion of the Director of Schools.  Watch the meeting on demand HERE.


CCSO's Narcotics Division targets Elk Valley man

ELK VALLEY, TN (WLAF) - The last time Corey James Idalski was arrested and placed behind bars at the Campbell County Jail was in February.  After members of the Campbell County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division executed a narcotics search warrant at his home last Wednesday, investigators say the 24-year-old Idalski may be on his way back.  If so, it would mark his 11th arrest in Campbell County.


Sheets annual school supply drive runs through Aug. 24
