Hubert Bolton Jr. age 77 of 376 Habersham Rd. Duff, TN. passed away Sunday, November 14, 2010 at his home. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Jr. loved the Lord and was a deacon of Habersham Baptist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved life and everything about it and saw the best in everyone. But most of all he loved his family.

Preceded in death by Parents: Hubert and Mable Ayers Bolton. Brother: Ray Bolton. Sister: Dorothy Anderson and surviving Husband: James.

Survived by Wife: Peggy Bolton, Daughter: Cathy Rutherford and Husband: Marvin. Tammy Money and Christy Bolton. Grandchildren: Amber Claxton, Koby Bowlin, Nikita Rutherford, and Zachiary Rutherford. Sisters: Marie Reese. Brothers: Billy, LC, Frank, and Jerry Bolton.

Funeral service will be 8 PM Tuesday, November 16 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Wilson and Mike Bowlin officiating. A Masonic service will be at 7:50 PM before funeral service. Interment will be 11 AM Wednesday In Davis Cemetery with the Campbell Co. Honor Guard in charge off graveside service. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:50 PM Tuesday night before service.

Mildred Louise Massengill age 69 of Caryville went home to be with the Lord Friday, November 12, 2010 at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She attended New Beginning Baptist Church and Temple of Christ Baptist Church. Mrs. Massengill enjoyed singing, sewing, crafts, scrapbooking, gardening, and loved her grandchildren, family, and friends very much. She never met a stranger.

Preceded in death by Husband: Rev. Albert Massengill Sr. Parents: Ernest and Ruby Rutherford. Sisters: Wanda and Novella Rutherford.

Funeral service will be 1 PM Tuesday, November 16 at New Beginning Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Jobe, Rev. Al Turpin, and Rev. J.D. Massengill officiating. Mrs. Massengill will lie in state from 12 until 1 PM before funeral service. Interment will follow in Ridgeview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Monday night in Martin Wilson Chapel.

Allen Marlow, age 87 of Caryville in the Stoney Fork Community, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010.  He was born November 23, 1922.  He was a member of Beech Fork Baptist Church .  He was a proud coalminer for 42 years.   Mr. Malow loved going to church raising a garden, hunting ginseng and sharing stories with everyone.  He was loved by all and will be deeply missed.

 

He was preceded in death by Parents:  Shecum Marlow and Zada Catron; Brother, Edward Marlow; Two late wives:  Mency (Lowe) Marlow and Bertha (Bryge) Marlow; Daughters:  Juanita, Pauline, and Thedia (Marlow) McKamey; Sons:  Chester and Ralph Marlow; Stepson, Hobert Byrge.

 

Survivors include Son:  Lester Marlow and Wife, Ada with whom he made his home; Daughters-in-law:  Gracie Marlow of Jacksboro; Laura Rose Marlow of Caryville and Son-in-law:  Thurman McKamey of Jacksboro; Step-Sons; Homer Byrge of Cherry Bottom; David Byrge of Jacksboro; Step-Daugther:  Mazella Vowell of Fraterville; Sister:  Grace Wilson and Husband, Vershel of Caryville and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Thomas Roy Conklin Jr., age 60, of Lake City, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010 at the Mercy Residential Hospice in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was born July 11, 1950 in Port Jervis, New York to the late Thomas Roy Conklin Sr. and Donna Marie Orcutt. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family and friends and especially his grandsons.

Mr. Golda Jones age 76 of the Bethlehem Community, LaFollette passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2010.  He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and owned and operated school bus #26 for the Campbell County School System for close to 30 years. Golda loved banjo pickin’, bluegrass music, and he also loved to farm.  Preceded in death by wife, Neoma Goins Jones, and sons, Tommy and Billy, parents, Oscar and Ethel Ausmus Jones, sisters, Evelyn Hatfield, Odessa Bolton, and Myrie Hawkins, brothers, Esker, Burl, Durl, Claude, and Gordon Alias Jones.

She loved helping others, drove for the cancer society and delivered for meals on wheels. She loved her family and friends and they were her life.

Charles Austin Beach Sr., age 85 of Andersonville, passed away on Monday, November 1, 2010 at his residence.  He enjoyed gardening, making stain glass, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Charles was born April 19, 1925 in Anderson County, TN to the late Luke and Myrtle Pike Beach. He was a member of the Oak Ridge Moose Club and Eagles Club of Powell. Charles was a WWII Navy Veteran. He also was a member of Robertsville Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his late wife, Margaret Joyce Beach, son, Gary Wayne Beach, and brother, Russell Beach.

Gratz (Junior) Carden, age 68 of Lake City, passed away November 1, 2010 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.  Jr. served 2 years in the army, and then made a career of 26 years in the coal mining business.  His hobbies included gardening, building birdhouses, fishing, lawn work, and spending time with family.  Jr. is preceded in death by his father, Luther Sharp, his sister Alice Faye Alexander, and his stepfather Robert Burks.

Crabtree age 92 of LaFollette passed away Friday, October 29, 2010 at St. Mary’s Health & Rehab in LaFollette.  She was a charter member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church .  She was retired from Imperial Reading Corp., and loved gardening and to travel.  She was preceded in death by husband, Balford Crabtree on July 10, 1976, and by her parents, David C. and Bertha Brandenburg Thompson, sister, Mabel Brogan, brother, C. Betty Lou Dew, age 88 of Macon, GA formerly of Lake City, went home to be the Lord on Thursday, October 28, 2010. She was born April 25, 1922 in Anderson County to the late Robert and Bess Flinchum Branscom. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake City. She enjoyed gardening, painting pictures, roses and loved her grandchildren. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by husband, Frank Dew.

Mr. W. C. Ayers, Jr. age 69 of the Straight Fork Community in Scott County , departed this life on Sunday, October 24, 2010, at St. Mary’s of Scott County .  He was born July 29, 1941 in Campbell County to the late William C. Ayers and Pauline Ayers Bishop.

 

Known to many as Bill, and to some as Dub; to others he was known as Santa Clause, but to all, W. C. was known as a Friend.  He was a Member of the Straight Fork Baptist Church and he was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner.  W. C. enjoyed working at the Oneida Senior Citizens Center, where he spent time with his co workers and made many friends because he never met a stranger.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by special step father Frederick Bishop; (1) Infant brother and sister.

Georgia Mae Mowell was born on September 8th 1923 to George & Chloe Lovely of Lafollette, TN. She was the oldest of three children. She married Robert Mowell and they were blessed with their only child, Judy Lynn in 1949.

A devoted follower of Christ, Georgia was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Jacksboro for over 50 years. Her faith, strength, and devotion to her family, friends, and God have been an inspiration to all who have known her.

Georgia was a teacher in Campbell County for over 40 years and considered it a privilege to have taught the majority of people in the Jacksboro area. After retiring from teaching she continued her passion of helping others by volunteering her time at the hospital in Lafollette. She was also involved in many clubs and organizations.

Loved and admired by all who knew her, Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, George & Chloe Lovely, brother James H. Lovely, sister Vida Kelly, husband Robert Mowell, daughter Judy Casey, son-in-law Roger Casey, nephew Mark Lovely.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Angie Barber & husband James of Acworth, GA, Christy Karoffa & husband Alex of Canton, GA, Scott Casey of Tybee Island, GA. Mr. Garland Parrott age 71 of LaFollette passed away peacefully into the Arms of the Lord with his family by his side at home Friday, October 15, 2010.  He was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church .  He was a retired heavy equipment operator, served in the U.S. Air Force, and loved playing music.  He loved his family very much, especially his Grandson Blake.  Preceded in death by parents, Kelly and Myrtle Parrott, brothers, Hubert, Carl, and Bob Parrott, sisters, June King and Bennie Mae Siler, father and mother-in-law, Hubert and Okie Miller.

 

Survivors: Wife of 47 years, Carolyn Miller Parrott; daughters and sons-in-law, Melonye and Ronald Gibson, Anessia and Darrell North; grandson, Blake Gibson and wife Kimberly; 2 step grandsons, Jeremy and Cody North; 1 step great-granddaughter, Karley-Shay North, who he enjoyed her visits so much, all of LaFollette.  2 sisters and 1 brother; Special sister-in-law, Jerri Parrott of Morristown; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Cecil Peel of LaFollette, Imogene and Arnold Parker of San Antonio, TX, and Jim Miller of LaFollette. Robert Lee “Bobby” Martin, age 64 of Jacksboro went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 19, 2010. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was a very loving and caring father, husband, grandfather and friend. He had a very open and giving heart to everyone he met. He began a wrestling career in 1969 as wrestler Bobby Steele and retired in 2003.

Preceded in death by Parents: Leslie and Frances Martin. Brother: Jack Morris. Sisters: Loretta and Joan.

Retired SFC William J. “Bill” Anderson age 65 of Lafollette went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 9, 2010. He was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church and was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Bill proudly served his country and state as a recruiter for the TN Army National Guard for over two decades for which he received many awards and commendations. Upon retirement from the military he continued his career of service with the Campbell Co. Sheriff’s Department.

Kimberly Renae Parker Massengill, age 48 of Briceville, went to be with her dad in heaven on October 8, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Knoxville.  Kimberly was born January 31, 1962 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed crafts, geneology, fishing and swimming, and was an avid movie watcher. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and especially spending time with her dogs, Tico and Jake.  She is preceded in death by her father George F. Gene Wright went to meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday Oct 4, 2010 at Mercy Hospital North. Gene was a 32nd degree mason and a veteran of the United States Army.  Gene grew up in Caryville and starred in basketball at Jacksboro High School. He went on to play basketball and baseball at LMU and was later inducted into the LMU athletes Hall of Fame. After his service in the army, he coached high school basketball at Powell Valley, Rule, Jacksboro and Lake City. In 1973 he decided to impact student in a different way and moved into administration, where he served as principal at Lake City until it closed in 1982 and later at Anderson County High School. Gene loved teaching and coaching and making a difference in the lives of the young men and women at the high school level as their principal. After his retirement he became very active in the Holston rose society and loved growing roses. Gene was inducted in the Anderson County Hall of fame in 2008. He was a member of 1st Baptist Church in Lake City for over 47 years where he was a deacon and taught Sunday School. He is preceded in death by his father and mother Rev. JW Wright and Eliza Wright, brothers Neville, Warren and Bob and sister Mae Taylor. Gene is survived by wife of 53 years, Jimmie Ann of Lake City, daughter Julie Minton and husband Steve of New Tazewell. Son Jody and wife Kim of Clinton, sisters Nadine and Marguerite of Caryville and grandchildren Lauren, Michael and Mollie.  Family will receive friends on Thursday October 7th from 4:00-7:00 with the service to follow at 1st Baptist Church Lake City. Grave side services will be Friday at 11:00 at Grandview cemetery in Clinton.  Services will be conducted by Rev. Charles Noss,  Rev. Brian Courtney an grave side services by Rev. Wayne Phillips. James Harrison Allen Sr., age 79 of Lafollette passed away Sunday, October 3, 2010 at his home after a long illness. He served during the Korean War for four years in the U.S. Air Force. He was the owner and operator of McCullah Brothers Trucking and Coal Company and Allen and Allen Construction Company. He was of the Holiness Faith and an avid hunter and fisherman who loved the outdoors. He loved his family very much especially his granddaughter Alesha Jo Allen.

Ruby Vermon Morton, age 87 of Lafollette passed away Monday, October 4, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Health and Rehab. She was a member of Demory Baptist Church. Vermon was a retired teacher and taught school for 1 year in Knoxville and 44 years in Campbell County and was a member of the TEA, NEA, and CCEA. She enjoyed gardening, kids and traveling.

Survived by Brother: Robert Gale Morton of Lafollette. Sisters: Novella Wynn of Jacksboro and Delphia Eldridge of Lafollette. Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be 8 PM Wednesday, October 8, 2010 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Ray Siler officiating. Interment will be 10 AM Thursday in Pond Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday night before funeral service.

David E. White, age 48, of Powell, formerly of Lake City, passed away Friday, October 1, 2010 at his residence. He was born April 18, 1962 in Florida  to the late Ovas and Marinetha Fox White. David was a member of the Clear Branch Baptist Church. He enjoyed his job, working on cars, riding motorcycles, and spending time with friends and family, especially his son.
