Earl Pierce, age 77 of Lafollette passed away Friday, October 1, 2010. He was a member of Friendship Church of God. Earl enjoyed fishing, bowling and watching westerns. He worked in the coal mines for 6 years. He loved his family and grandkids very much.

Preceded in death by Wife: Alice Imogene Pierce. Son: Earl Pierce. Parents: Charlie and Sarah Branam Pierce. Brothers: Robert, Paul, Dewey Howard and Roy Pierce. Sisters: Carrie Marie, Easter and Elizabeth Ann Pierce.

Survived by Son: Marvin Pierce of Lafollette. Daughters: Donna Seiber of Ohio, Lois Ranch of Grand Rapids, Vickie Vasquez of Ohio, Lisa York of Ohio and Melanie Wasberg of    Lafollette. 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Sisters: Mary Morgan of Lafollette, Betty Ava of Ohio and Jean Raney of Kentucky. Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be 8 PM Saturday, October 2, 2010 in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Andrew Ayers officiating. Interment will be 3 PM Wednesday in Davis Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Saturday night before service.

Franklyn B. Moneyhun, Jr. of Maynardville went to be with his Savior at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Knoxville.  Frank was a WWII veteran and one of the first Navy Frogmen – now the Navy Seals.  A member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville, served as a greeter for many years and member of Dwight Kessel’s Sunday School Class.  He was a brokerage agent for most of his life.

Preceded in death by Mother & Father, Franklyn B. Moneyhun, Sr. & wife, Mae; grandson, Jim Moneyhun; father-in-law, Tansy C. Carr.

Barney Monroe Ray, Jr. age 70 of Lafollette passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Mercy in Knoxville. He attended Ivy Dell Church of God. Barney was love and laughter. He enjoyed restoring trucks and was a member of LA Cruizers Car Club. He worked at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell Co. for 7 years. Barney loved his family and grandchildren very much.

Mrs. Thelma Goins Young age 92 of LaFollette passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at St. Mary’s Health and Rehab Center in LaFollette.  She was a member of Davis Chapel Community Baptist Church .  Preceded in death by husband, J.T. Young, parents, Simpson and Lizzie Sharp Goins, brothers, Ben and Howard Goins.

Ethel Marie Hill Prater age 95 of Monroe, Georgia formally of Lafollette, Tennessee went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on September 25, 2010. She was born on December 15, 1914 to John and Minnie Reynolds Hill. She was saved in 1952 and joined West Lafollette Baptist Church. She attended several Baptist Churches while living in Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her Husband: Roy Prater. Her memory will forever be treasured by her 5 children, Jack Prater, Virginia Clement, Peggy Haywood, Jania Lumpkins, and Sonny Prater. 8 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.

She did not want sadness on this day. She has gone to rest.

Wonnie Mae Hollifield, age 84 of Jacksboro passed away Monday, September 27, 2010 at Cumberland Village Nursing Home. She was a member of Mt. Paran Baptist Church. Wonnie enjoyed reading her Bible and going to church and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed working in her flowers and garden or anything to do with the outdoors and she thought more of others than she did herself.

Preceded in death by Husband: Lee Hollifield. Parents: Oscar D and Sally Beaty Rector. Brother: Belford, Lloyd, Paul and Doyle Rector.

Bobby “Bob” Edward Freeman, age 77 of Caryville, passed away Friday, September 24, 2010 at his residence. He was born April 27, 1933 in Kentucky to the late George E. and Mary Magdalene Johnson Freeman. Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Martin-Marietta after 37 years plus. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Caryville.

Mrs. Bertha Evelyn Miller, age 81 of Metamora , MI , formerly of LaFollette, passed away Monday, September 20, 2010.  She was born August 31, 1929, in Detroit , MI ., and on September 19, 1949, married J. Hugh Miller in East Detroit , MI .  She was a loving wife and mother, member of Glade Springs Baptist Church and a member of the Eastern Star.  She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Hugh Miller, parents, Emil and Ida Wilson Niedebock, and several brothers and sisters.

 

Survivors include six children, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and one brother.  Several other relatives and friends.

Floyd Kenneth Graham, age 57 of Lafollette passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at his home. He was a member of Jellico Highway Church of God. He enjoyed playing music, going to church and his friends. He loved his grandson, children and family very much. He also loved pleasing other people and teaching kids how to play music. Kenny was saved at an early age and finished the remainder of his days serving the Lord.

Mr. Carl Bobby Seibers age 69 of LaFollette passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010, at Norris Health & Rehabilitation Center .  He was a member of the Jellico Masonic Lodge #527 F. & A.M., and deacon and member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church for over 50 years.  He owned and operated his own drywall business for 30 years.  He loved to hunt and was featured in Buck Masters Magazine with his deer, was an avid fisherman and fish trembled when they heard his name.  Preceded in death by parents, Robert and Rachel Bolton Seibers, sisters, Judy Bales and Elsie Perryman, and stepfather, Lawrence Pettit.

JoAnn Stiner Sharp, age 63, of LaFollette passed away suddenly at her home on Tuesday, September 14, 2010.  JoAnn was a member of Forks Grove Baptist Church and a wonderful friend to many.  She continued to be a source of advise and help to everyone in need following many years of work as a Registered Nurse.  She received great fulfillment in doing good deeds for others.  JoAnn served on many boards and took great pride in her services to Mountain Valley Economic Opportunity Authority, CASA of Campbell County and The Campbell County Cancer Society.  Preceded in death by husband, Tom Sharp; parents, Emmit and Hassie Stiner; brother, Glen Stiner.

 JoAnn had no natural sisters, but always called special friend, Fayetta Clawson, sister.  She and Fayetta were inseparable and were partners in helping others.



Sue Laxton Coker age 72 of Hazel Green, AL , formerly of LaFollette passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at her home surrounded by family and friends. 

 

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Jack; Daughter, Dana Massey and husband John; Son, Keith and wife Brandee, and five beautiful grandchildren, Payton and Connor Massey, Vivian, Jack, and Lola Coker.  She is also survived by brother, Gary Laxton and wife Martha Ann of LaFollette.

Beulah Mae Woods, age 87 of Jacksboro went to be with the Lord Friday, September 10, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Health and Rehab. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Beulah was a loving wife off 44 years and enjoyed working in her garden and quilting. She loved camping in the mountains and doing things outside. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Preceded in death by Infant Son: Danny Wayne. Daughter: Dorothy Kitts. Parents: Marshall and Ollie Yoakum Rains. Brother: Warren Rains. Sister: Ovella Patterson.

Aline Queener Gipson, age 93 of LaFollette passed away Friday, September 10, 2010 at the NHC Nursing Home in Oak Ridge .  She was a member of New Horizon Baptist Church .

David Farmer, age 52 of Lafollette went home to be with the Lord Friday, September 10, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. David enjoyed going to church, playing his guitar and spending time with his family.

 Johnny Frank Butcher, age 71 of Caryville, passed away Thursday, September 9, 2010 at his residence. He was born April 7, 1939 in Anderson County, TN. Johnny was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake City and was a retired brick mason. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and spending time with family and friends. Johnny was a US Army Veteran, and was of the 101st Airborne. He is proceeded in death by father; Earl Butcher, sisters; Lila Hatmaker and Arletta Alkire.

Glendene "Glen" Vowell age 76, of Lake City, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at his residence. Glen was born March 3, 1934 in Anderson County, TN to the late Lawrence and Minnie Fraker Vowell. He was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing with his wife. Glen also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his infant daughter, Dorothy Elaine Vowell, brothers, Audrey and George Vowell, twin sister, Geraldine Prater, and sister, Anna Mary Evans.

Mrs. Mable Louise Childress Rouse age 95 of LaFollette passed away Thursday, September 2, 2010 at LaFollette Court Assisted Living Center .  She was a member of LaFollette First Baptist Church since early childhood, very active in the WMU, and past president of LaFollette Business and Professional Women.  Preceded in death by husband, Lawrence Rouse who operated Service Grocery for over 50 years, parents, Herbert Arthur Childress and Myrtle Williams Childress.
