Emma L. Ward Epperson

Emma L. Ward Epperson, 84, of Powell, Tennessee, formally of LaFollette, passed away Friday evening at Golden Living Center (Windwood) in Clinton, Tennessee. Emma is a member of the High Street Baptist Church of LaFollette, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Laurel Lodge Number 22. She enjoyed crocheting and crafts and she loved reading the Bible and singing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev James F. Epperson; parents, Ferdin and Creasey Ward; Brothers, Ben, Ed, and David; Sisters, Mary, Louisa, Bertie, Martha, Pearl, Elizabeth, and Bell. Emma is survived by her sons and daughters in law, Dr Frank (Jamie) Epperson of Knoxville, Tennessee and Mark (Carolyn) Epperson of Spring Hill, Florida; granddaughter, Carmen Epperson of Arizona, several nieces and nephews, and a host of wonderful friends. The family will receive friends from 5 – 6:30 p.m. in the Martin Wilson Chapel, LaFollette, Tennessee, with the funeral service to follow. Board Chairman, Tom Metcalf of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Halls, Tennessee will officiate. There will be a brief burial service Monday morning at 10 a.m. at Grantsboro Pond Cemetery with Dr. Frank Epperson officiating. Roy Lee Green, Sr. age 68 of LaFollette

Roy Lee Green, Sr., age 68, of La Follette passed away Saturday, March 20,2010, at UT Medical Center in Knoxville.  He attended Ivey Dell Church of God.  Roy enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.  He loved camping, fishing, ginsing, outdoors, and mountains.  His family was his life.

Roy was preceded in death by his Son, Danny Ray Green.  Parents:  Florurn Shepherd and Mary Clouse Wilhoit.  Brothers:  Henry Wilhoit, Jr. and Roy Barnes.

Roy is survived by his wife, Dorothy Faye Green of La Follette.  Sons:  Roy Lee Green, Jr., Ricky Green, Sr. and wife, Sharon, Tex Lee Ramsey, Jr. and wife, Sherri, Henry Ramsey and wife,Krystle, all of La Follette.  Daughters:  Peggy Lee Green and Diane Ramsey, both of La Follette.  Special grand daughter Railee Jade Huff of La Follette, Brother:  Willie Wilhoit of La Follette.  Special cousin Lloyd Clouse.  Sister:  Marie Wilhoit of La Follette.  Grandchildren:  Roy Lee Green, III, Merry Winter Green Huff, Loretta Green Boshears, Ricky Green, Jr., Danny Lee Green, Dakota Green, Travis Green, Amy Green, Amanda Miracle Smith, China Green, Crystal Smith, Deanna Green Smith, Royce Ray Ramsey, Allison Leann Ramsey, and Danielle Thomas.  Thirty-two great grandchildren plus several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Ivey Dell Church of God with Rev. Ray Graham and Rev. Earl Powers officiating.  Interment follows in Bakers Forge Cemetery.  The family of Roy Lee Green, Sr. will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at the Ivey Dell Church of God.

James Authur Webb age 83 of Lake City, Tennessee

James Authur Webb, age 83, of Lake City, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010, at his home.  He was born December 25, 1926, in Anderson County, Tennessee, to the late Herbert Brian and Bertha Luallen Webb.  James was a member of the Longfield Baptist Church and enjoyed woodworking and spending time with family and friends.  He was co-owner of the long remembered Webb's Store.  James was an Army Veteran.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, Son, Billy Joe Webb; Brothers, Harry, Kenneth, and H.B. Jr Webb; Sister, Kathleen Webb.

James is survived by his Wife, Jean Disney Webb, Son, Mark Webb, and Daughter, Teresa Webb, all of Lake City.  Grandchildren, Tasha Nicole Webb, Miranda Brooke Webb, Chris Devin Webb, Hannah Webb, Heather Webb, and Danielle Webb, along with several Nieces, Nephews, and many friends.

Mary Alice Cooper Lowe age 87 of Kingston, Tennessee

Mary Alice Cooper Lowe, age 87 of Kingston, formerly of La Follette passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010, at her home.  She was a wonderful mother that loved to travel, read, and gather with family and friends.  She was a friend and inspiration to all who knew her.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Barton Cooper and Sarah Elizabeth Cooper; beloved sister, Bonnie Cooper Lowe; brother, William Edward Cooper; special sister-in-law, Cora Lea Killion; brother-in-law, Melvin McHenry.

Survivors of Mary Alice include her daughters and sons-in-law:  Patricia and Larry Mills of Hixson, Tennessee, Janice and Phillip Carriger, Sr., Spring City, Tennessee, and Brenda and Walter Hensley, Jr., of Kingston, Tennessee.  Sisters:  Lydia and husband Richard Davis along with Mrs. Betty McHenry, all of La Follette.  Special sister-in-law; Betty Cooper.  Eight grandchildren, one great-great grandchild plus many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services:  4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Cross-Smith Chapel with Rev. Albert Andrew Steakley age 91 of La Follette

Albert Andrew Steakley, age 91, of La Follette passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the St. Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County.  Albert was a member of High Street Baptist Church.  He loved fishing and watching the Atlanta Braves.  He loved his family and liked to work.

Albert was preceded in death by his wife:  Eula Irene Steakley.  Parents:  James and Lela Webb Steakley.  Brother:  Jack Steakley.

Albert is survived by sons: John Steakley of Clinton, James Steakley of Jacksboro, and Billy Branam of Jellico.  Daughters:  Edith Ray, Bonnie Miller, Hazel Martin, Lois Carroll, and Anna Williamson all of La Follette.  Twenty-five grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren.  Several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 21, 2010, in Martin Wilson Chapel with Rev. Hansford Bolton and Rev. Junior Dilbeck officiating.  Interment follows in Bakers Forge Cemetery with the Campbell County Honor Guard in charge of services.  The family of Albert Andrew Steakley will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday night before funeral service.

Robert Dayton "Bob" Stallard age 80 of Clinton, Tennessee

Robert Dayton “Bob” Stallard, age 80, of Clinton,  passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the NHC Healthcare in Oak Ridge. He was born December 26, 1929, in Coeburn, Virginia, to the late John D. and Orpha Powers Stallard.  He was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church in Lake City.  He was an avid golfer.  He retired from the U.S. Air Force with 21 years of service.  He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict.  He retired from the State of Tennessee.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Christopher Stallard, brothers, Shirley, Buford, Oliver, Kline, Roger and Emory Stallard, and sister Erma Dell Williams, and Carma Clark.

Survivors include wife Margaret Stallard of Clinton, son  Mark Stallard & wife Lisa of Clinton, beloved grand daughter Emily Stallard of Clinton, sisters Nancy Curtin of   San Antonio, Texas, Marlene Adkins of Copper Hill, Tennessee.  Several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives.

Visitation is 2:00 - 3:30 PM Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Main Street Baptist Church.  Funeral service 3:30 PM Saturday, March 20, 2010, at the Main Street Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Phillips officiating.  Interment to follow the Funeral Service at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Lake City with Military Honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.

Vicky D. Walden age 60 of La Follette

Vicky Walden, age 60, of La Follette passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at the Jellico Community Hospital.  Mrs. Walden was a member of Long Hollow Baptist Church.  She loved writing poetry and loved her family very much.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents:  Ernest C. and Walcie Wilson.  Brother:  Virgil Wilson and infant sister:  Vertie Wilson.

Vicky is survived by:  Husband:  James Walden.  Children:  Tammy Hill, Clifford Lane, Penny Lane, Joann Smith, Samuel Hill, Willorad Young, and Jamie Fraley.  Grandchildren:  Tashiena Hill, Sambo Hill, Ricky Bailey, Ricky Green, Jr., Bridgete Bailey, Crystel Crips, Jessie Lane, Joshua Lane, Brittany Smith, Dakota Lane, Garnett Hicks, Joseph Loyd, Kaelin Lane, Trevor Lane, Duke and Michelle.  Special great grandchildren:  Issac Hill, Little Shane, Morgan Hill, Megan Green, Ricky Green, III, Faith, Maddison, Maria, Sarah, and Ethan.

James  Robert “Jimmy” Carpenter Jr. age 56 of Knoxville

Jimmy Carpenter, age 56, of Knoxville, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, at the family home. He was a member of Washington Pike United Methodist Church. Jimmy was retired from TVA and recently served in conservation work for surrounding utility boards.  He was a 1975 graduate of UT Knoxville and enjoyed UT athletics.  Jimmy played the guitar proficiently, sharing his talent with many.  He taught his children and many others how to play the guitar as well as the violin.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, James Robert “Bob” Carpenter and grandparents, Rev. T. M. and Lela Bain Carpenter; Herman Clifton and Kathryn McClain Province.

Jimmy is survived by:  wife of 34 years, Jackie McMillan Carpenter; daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah Beth and Josh Carlon, Laura and Ken Baker; sons, James Andrew “Drew” Carpenter; granddaughter, Ellery Carlon; mother, Sarah Province Carpenter, all of Knoxville; sister and brother-in-law, Janie and Gordon Cox of Lake City; brothers, Joey Carpenter and Jon Carpenter of Knoxville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, C.H. and Brenda McMillan, sister-in-law, Cathy Gibson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Skip and Sandy McMillan all of Knoxville; niece, Katie Gibson; nephews, Clark Gibson; Glenn Cox and wife, Ashley; John Cox and wife, Leah; several dear aunts, uncles, and cousins.
