Opal S. Tackett age 86 of Smyrna, TN, formerly of Weeksbury, KY Opal S. Tackett, age 86, of Smyrna, Tennessee, formerly of Weeksbury, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday March 31, 2010, at Community Care of Rutherford County in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She was born February 11, 1924 at Dunleary in Pike County, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Harold J. Tackett, daughter Barbara A. (Tackett) Parks, parents Ray and Roma (Hurley) Mullins, and siblings Ted Mullins, Mabel Morton, and Pebble Dameron. She is survived by her son-in-law, William T. Parks of Smyrna; granddaughters, Amy Lynn (Parks) Fielder of Christiana, Tennessee, and April Lee Parks of Murfreesboro; great-grandchildren, Bryan and McKenzie Fielder, siblings, Jimmy Mullins of Elkhorn City, Kentucky, Eloise Mullins and Ruey (Randall) Mullins of Belcher, Kentucky, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was a member of Eastern Star, Wheelwright Chapter 477, Wheelwright, Kentucky. Special heartfelt thanks to the wonderful and caring staff of “G” wing at Community Care of Rutherford County. Johnny Thomas age 67 of La Follette Johnny Thomas, age 67, of LaFollette passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at James H. Quillen, DVAMC in Mountain Home, Tennessee. A U.S. Army veteran and member of Speedwell Freewill Baptist Church. Rosie Mae Vann age 94 of La Follette Rosie Mae Vann, age 94, of La Follette passed away in her home on March 28, 2010, after an extended illness. She was the last surviving member of the family of Frank and Helen Chapman. Rosie Mae was baptized by Preacher Harmon in 1926 in the Powell River, now known as Norris Lake. She was a founding member of Coolidge First Baptist Church. Rosie Mae Vann was always a Christian example to everyone she was ever around. She always told everyone that she met about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Rosie Mae was proud to tell the story of how good God was to her and her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Joshua Vann; her son, Larry Vann; grandson, Jerry Nelson; great grandson, David Ryan Muse and son-in-law, Lee Nelson. Survivors, Daughters, Mildred (Midge) Nelson and Shirley Brown, Daughter-in-law, Betty Vann, eight Grandchildren, nine Great Grandchildren, and six Great-Great Grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews including a niece, Helen Graves, who was also a caregiver. Ward, age 70 of Caryville, passed away suddenly at his home early Sunday morning. He had multitude of interests. Henry was a mason, past master and member of Jacksboro Lodge #322. He loved being in the mountains, playing gospel music in church, genealogy research, tuning and repairing pianos. Henry’s wife, children, grandchildren, and God were the most precious things in his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paris and Roxie Burress Ward. Survivors include, Wife of 36 years, Ella Bumbalough Ward; 3 children, Charles Edward “Chuck” Ward of Caryville, Stella Faye Ward Way of Lockport, New York.
