Mr. Ralph Glenn Reynolds age 65 of Pioneer, Tennessee

Ralph Glenn Reynolds, age 65 of Pioneer, Tennessee, passed away Friday, June 18, 2010, at his home.  Ralph was a member of First Baptist Church of LaFollette, and an employee of Carlisle Tire & Wheel of Clinton , TN.  He loved the great outdoors, hunting, gardening, and playing with his grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Sibyl Reynolds and step-mother, Thelma Reynolds. 

Ralph is survived by wife of 41 years, Jacqueline Reynolds; daughter, Lisa Reynolds Davis and son-in-law, Brent Davis of Round Lake, IL; grandsons, Luke and Quinn Davis; daughter, Sherry Reynolds Kennedy and son-in-law, James Kennedy of Seymour, TN; grandchildren, Maddy and Mason Kennedy; brothers, E. L. Reynolds of Jacksboro, TN, Raymond Reynolds and Kyle Reynolds both of Pioneer, TN; step-sister, Linda Lane of Knoxville.   

Funeral services Sunday 6 P.M. at Walters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Clem and Pastor Brent Davis officiating.  Family and friends will meet Monday 11 A.M. at Woodlawn Cemetery for graveside services and interment.  The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Ruby Willoughby age 88 of La Follette

Ruby Willoughby age 88 of Lafollette passed away Monday, June 14, 2010 at  Cumberland Villiage. She was a member of Whitman Hollow Bible Church. Mrs. Willoughby loved her family very much, enjoyed serving the Lord, and gardening.

Preceded in death by Parents:  Thomas and Mossie  Boshears Ballard. Several brothers and sisters.

Survived by Son: Roger David Conner of Pensacola, FL. Daughter: Mary Kae Nawojski of Palmdale, CA. Brother: Sherman Ballard of Lafollette and Thomas Andrew Ballard Jr. of Ohio. Sister: Callie Freeman of Lafollette and Lucy Helen Guriel of MI. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Georgia L. Myers born October 1, 1929 passed away Monday, June 14, 2010.  She was preceded in death by husband, Charles L. Myers, and mother, Cora Wilhoit Myers, brothers, Clyde , Elmer, and John Wilhoit.

Delphine Ford Duff, age 75 of Lake City, passed away June 12, 2010, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was born February 6, 1935, in Campbell County, Tennessee, to the late Tivis and Mary Campbell Ford. She was a member of the Mountain Assembly Church of God. She enjoyed going to church, camping and fishing, bird watching, and spending time with family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, her brothers, Leon and T.J. Ford.

Roscoe "Rusty" Bolton, age 80, of LaFollette passed away Monday, June 7, 2010, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.  Preceded in death by parents, Bert and Onie Bolton, sister, Ruby Matthews, brothers, Elzo Bolton and Nathaniel Bolton.

Johnson Robert Khoshaba age 17 of La Follette

Johnson Robert Khoshaba, age 17, of La Follette passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2010.  He was a recent graduate of Campbell County High School and had planned to attend Roane State Community College in the fall. John enjoyed playing guitar, listening to music, being with his friends, family and girlfriend, Amber Russell.

He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Myrtle Williams.

John is survived by his brother, Jamis Khoshaba and grandparents, Bobby Ray and Patsy McDonald all of Lafollette, Tennessee. Other siblings, Julianna, Jason, Jelena and Joseph Khoshaba of Avondale, Arizona. His Aunt and Uncles, Debbie and Danny Shellnut of Royal Oak, MI. Leroy and Valerie McDonald of Redford Township, Mi. and cousins, Robin Shellnut, Molly, Arron and Abbey Ray McDonald. Great grandparents, R.B. and Jean Williams of Jacksboro, Tennessee. John is greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

J.C. Wilson age 81 of Lake City, Tennessee

J.C. Wilson, age 81, of the Beech Grove community in Lake City, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at his residence. He was born April 8, 1929 in Anderson County, Tn., to the late James Calvin and Lizzie Lee Bryant Wilson. He was a Private 1st Class US Marine Veteran having received an expert rifleman award. He enjoyed shooting guns, bird watching, movies, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church, and a member of Coal Creek Lodge F.& AM # 492.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Wilson,  grand daughter, Misty Stidham, brothers, Hugh Wilson, Carl Wilson, & Robert Wilson, and his sisters, Ethel Helton, Edith Beach, and Georgia Wilson.

Mary Helen Bullock, age 83 of Lake City, went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, June 4, 2010 at her home. She was born December 18, 1926 in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Frank and Fannie Alford Miles. Mary Helen was a member of the Fratersville Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church, flowers, gardening, and spending time with family and friends and her little dog, Abbie Gail. Mary Juanita Elkins Paul of Pioneer

Mary Juanita Elkins Paul of Pioneer, born October 12, 1927 departed this life  June 4, 2010. She was 82 years old. Juanita loved her family which was the center of her life. She also loved quilting, gardening, canning, cooking and fishing. She was a long time employee of Powell Valley Foods. Juanita left that employment to aid her husband in  his dry wall finishing business. They spent many happy years in FL. but returned to their true home in TN. where they both retired. Juanita was a member of the New Canaan Baptist Church of Pioneer. Whether you knew her as Juanita, Mom, or Mamaw this very special lady will be truly missed. Our lives have been forever touched by our wife, mother, and mamaw. We will miss her dearly but we are better for the time we have had her in our lives and our lives are fuller because of her.

Mildred Stein went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 4, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Campbell Co. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Johnson City. She was a loving wife of 44 years. Mrs. Stein enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, gardening, and working out doors.

Gina K. Reneman age 47 of La Follette, formerly of Norwood, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010.  Gina was a very loving wife, mother, and friend, who was reunited with her son Micahel after almost 12 years to the day of his death on June 4, 1998.  Life was never the same without Michael, but she managed to make it with the help of her son Kurt and husband Michael.  She enjoyed working at Walmart where she had been an employee for 15 years.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Helen Wilson Sharp age 106 of Powell, Tennessee, formerly of La Follette

Helen Wilson Sharp of Powell, formerly of LaFollette, died May 29, 2010, at 106 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Wilson of LaFollette; husband, Harvey Kincaid Sharp; son, Jerry Clinton Sharp; grandchildren, James Kilpatrick Sharp and Angela Sharp.  Mrs. Sharp was a faithful member of Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville , the Murphy Builders Sunday School Class, and Circle Two of the United Methodist Women. Helen was noted for her exquisite hand-tatted lace, for her exceptional musical talent, and her infectious optimism. She was a gifted pianist and organist, having met her husband Harvey in the 1920's when she played piano for the silent picture shows at the Cherokee Movie Theater in LaFollette.  Mrs. Sharp counted church attendance to be of utmost importance and was present for worship and most special church events until just two weeks prior to her death. She held a special place in her heart for children and young people, and loved being with the youth at their Sunday evening "Night Life" gatherings.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Shirley Ann Sharp Stanberry of Powell; daughter-in-law, Gail Kilpatrick Sharp, and grandson, Thomas Sharp of Pearl River , LA ; nieces, Nancy Farmer Shelton and Barbara Farmer Hoskins of Powell. The family is grateful for the support of special friend, Laurie Craig, who lovingly cared for her "Grandma Helen.”.

A memorial service will be held at Church Street UMC on Tuesday evening at 7:00 P.M. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 in the chapel prior to the service. Earl W. Freeman age 81 of La Follette

Earl Warren Freeman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, passed away Thursday, May 27th, at St Mary's Medical Center of Campbell County.  Earl was born February 19, 1929, in McCreary County, Kentucky, moved to LaFollette in 1959, founded Lyk-Nu Body Shop in 1968 with partner Ralph Wilson, built a business, raised a family, and helped improve a community.  Everyone who knew Earl appreciated his wisdom, insights, dedication to family, and, most of all, the humor, grace, and optimism he always displayed.  He served in the US Navy during the Korean War, and was a member of the West LaFollette Baptist Church. 

Earl's sense of community was demonstrated by action, serving on boards or raising funds for organizations like the LaFollette Planning Commission (charter member), the Campbell County Planning Commission (charter member), Child Abuse Intervention Service, the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, the Caring Neighbor Program, the Campbell County High School Marching Band, FEMA, the Campbell County Cancer Fund, the LaFollette Jaycees, Helping Hands, the Salvation Army, Food Life Services, Emergency Food and Shelter Board, and Family First.  For his efforts, in addition to the joy he felt for helping others, he was named a Kentucky Colonel, a Tennessee Colonel, was honored with a proclamation of “Earl Freeman Day” by Campbell County twice (December 15, 1997, and November 12, 2009), received the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts, 2004 Citizen of the Year, Chairman Emeritus of the Campbell County Planning Commission (1997), and host of other awards. 

Earl was preceded in death by parents George Grant and Lula Pearl Freeman, and brother George Freeman, Jr.  He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lucille Cowan Freeman; sons Michael and wife Judy of Jacksboro, and Edwin and wife Mitzi of Soddy Daisy, TN; daughters Pam and husband Freddy Guy of Fort Knox, Ky, and Jennifer Freeman of Antioch, TN; brother Winifer and wife Julia of Somerset, KY, sisters Ella Siler of Somerset, KY, Geneva Sprague of Lima, Ohio, Dorothy Hadding of Waynesville, Ohio, and twin sister Katheryn Bryant of Parkers Lake, KY; grandchildren David Dolen, Sarah Dolen, Natalie Guy, Hannah Guy, Chris Freeman, Jeffrey Freeman, Steve Freeman, Cody Freeman, and great granddaugher Madalyn Jackson; close family friend Kathleen Glaser, and many other special relatives and friends.

Wanna Janice Dugger, age 78, of Briceville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.  She was born on September 5, 1931 in Anderson County, Tennessee, to the late Ross and Mae White.  Wanna was a member of the Waldens View Missionary Baptist Church where she was a janitor and the song leader for many years.  She enjoyed quilting and attending various flea markets and yard sales.  Wanna also loved spending time with her family and friends.  She was preceded in death by her Parents, Brothers Alvin, Tommy, Jimmy, Eddie, and Clyde White, Sisters Wanita White and Ruby Curtis.

Marcia D. Kenny age 49 of Johnson City, Tennessee

Marcia D. Kenny, age 49, of Johnson City passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010, in Vass , North Carolina, of natural causes while taking care of her ailing mother.  Mrs. Kenny was a native of LaFollette, Tennessee, and a daughter of Sara Jean Hollingsworth Chaniott of Vass, North Carolina, and the late William R. Chaniott.  She was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and worked on campus in the Women’s Resource Center . Mrs. Kenny was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the JPIC. Marcia was also an animal and nature lover, an avid reader and a wonderful, caring wife and mother.  In addition to her father she is preceded in death by an infant sister, Beverly Jean Chaniott.

Survivors in addition to her mother include: husband, Louis M. Wayne Forrester Pettijohn, age 78, of Jacksboro passed away Monday, May 10, 2010, at the U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville. He was of the Episcopalian Faith. Mr. Pettijohn was a very loving husband, father, and grandfather that loved his family very much. He was very proud of his Air Force Career of more than 20 years, where he was part of the National Security Agency during the Cuban missile crisis. He retired as a engineer for Micro Switch, a division of Honeywell in Mars Hill. He was a graduate of Westlake High School, attended McNeese State University and received a M.B.A. from Western University in North Carolina. He was also a dedicated volunteer with Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org and treasurer of the Kentucky Outdoor Press Association.

Mable Abbott Emch of Powell, Tennessee

Mable Abbott Emch, of Powell, TN passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010 at National Health Care Facility of Oak Ridge.  Mable was born June 26, 1915 at Kilsyth, TN, the oldest daughter of the late Joe and Maude Young Abbott.  Mable had a rewarding and successful life having graduated from LaFollette High School.  She worked in the LaFollette Shirt Factory until she went to Oak Ridge to start her career in transportation, having driven for 17 years for the Stone and Webster contractors, and then drove a bus for American Industrial Transit.  Mable spent the last 25 years of her career working in the transportation dept of the Oak Ridge School System.

James Buel “Chick” Sharp age 94 of Caryville

James Buel Sharp, 94, of Caryville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 6, 2010.  Born in Caryville on July 4, 1915, he was the youngest child of James Marshall Sharp and Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Rector Sharp.  As the youngest, he was best known by his nickname, “Chick”.

Chick graduated from Jacksboro High School in 1935, and was a member of the Lincoln Memorial University graduating class of 1939.  In 1941, he entered the United States Army and was stationed at Camp Barkeley, TX, as a member of the 45th Infantry Division under General William S. Key.  In 1942, he was assigned to the newly constituted 795th Military Police Battalion at Camp Blanding, FL, which was initially committed to the European theater of operations during World War II.  The 795th Military Police Battalion fought in the Rome-Arno campaign (January to July 1944) and in Northern France (July to September 1944).  The unit has the distinction of having been the first to set up a 2-way radio system.  Chick attained the rank of Sergeant while serving in the United States Army, and returned to Camp Blanding, FL in 1944, and received and Honorable Discharge.

Following WWII, Chick returned to Tennessee and became an active businessman and land development entrepreneur.  In 1966, Chick served as an Instructor of Work Experience at LaFollette High School.  He married Juanita (Johnnie) Roach on Feb. 3, 1956, and were married for 38 years until Johnnie preceded him in death.

Chick was preceded in death by his Parents; Brothers:  J. Minton Sharp, W. Franklin (Frank) Sharp, August T. Sharp; and Sisters:  Mildred A. Sharp and Mae Sharp Owens.  He is survived by great nieces and nephews:  Gerald Sharp, and his Wife, Julia, of Caryville, ;  Frankie Sharp Hiatt, and her Husband Gary Hiatt, ; Von L. Sharp and his Wife, Betty all of Arcadia, IN; Betty Lou Kaiser Sharp, of Michigan City, IN; and Lena Anne Sharp Barrett, of Knoxville, TN; 16 great-great nieces and nephews, and 25 great-great-great nieces and nephews and also several nieces and nephews of his wife, Juanita Johnnie Roach Sharp.

James Walter Emch, of Powell, TN passed away Friday, May 7, 2010 while residing at NHC Nursing Facility with his Wife, Mable in Oak Ridge, TN.  James was born August 25, 1920 in New Martinsville, WVA in Wetzel County.  Son of the late George Issac and Flossie McKinley Emch.  Retired from Union Carbide in Oak Ridge with 31 years of service in the Energy Systems Nuclear Division.

Martha Murray Ford of Hendersonville, Tennessee, formerly of LaFollette, passed from this life on Thursday, May 6, 2010.  She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where she served several years as secretary and treasurer, she was employed by Campbell County Board of Education as secretary at LaFollette Middle School, and in recent years she had been a resident at Pennington Senior Living in Hendersonville, Tennessee where she was active in the Ambassador and Garden Clubs.  Martha was preceded in death by Husband, Charles, parents Eli and Maggie Murray, and Sisters, Louise Loy, Fleda Parrott, and infant Margaret Murray.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Terry Cobb of Hendersonville , step-granddaughter and her Husband, Teri-lee and Evan James, and step great-granddaughter, Wren of Fargo, North Dakota.

J.D. (Jay) Hamblin age 74 of La Follette

J.D. “Jay” Hamblin, age 74, of LaFollette, passed away Friday, May 7, 2010, at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County, after a long battle with cancer.  He was born November 20, 1935, in Harlan, Kentucky.  A founding member of New Horizon Baptist Church, and owner and operator of Jay’s Motors for many years.  Jay was reunited with his daughter Teresa Chapman who also fought a battle with cancer and stepped into eternity, May 8, 2009.  Preceded in death by daughter, Teresa Chapman, parents, Rachael and Clarence Hamblin, brothers, Paul Hamblin and Dorsey Hamblin.  Jay will be remembered for encouragement he readily shared throughout the community and with everyone he met.

Vance Irwin age 58 of Jacksboro passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Campbell Co. He was a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church for 37 years where he was a deacon, trustee, and Sunday school teacher and served on the School board for 6 years. He enjoyed coaching junior pro basketball and watching the New York Yankees, and UT sports. Mr. Irwin loved his family very much especially spending time with his grandson Blake.

Robert Stephen “Chebbie” Dossett age 54 of La Follette

Robert Stephen “Chebbie” Dossett, born December 2, 1955, ended his earthly celebration of life on May 2, 2010 at his home in Lafollette, TN. He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Bartmess Avenius and his father, Huston Robert “Pete” Dossett. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lafollette, Veteran of U.S. Army. He worked various jobs in various locations across the nation, including CA, FL, OH, NB, TX, KY, TN as well as Virgin Isles. He built, owned and operated the Triangle Lube in Lafollette. He was a volunteer with the Campbell County Civil War Concil since it was established.

He is survived by 1 brother, Richard Nichols of Mansfield, TX, 2 sisters, Patsy Dossett Hensley, Stanford, KY and Jill Dossett (Larry) Collier, of Lafollette. One niece, Holly Hensley and nephew, Robert Wesley Hensley. Aunts and Uncles: Frank and Betty Dossett, Victoria Lane, Addie Dodd, Nanie and Harold Greene, Eleanor Northcutt, Sue Lott. Owsley, age 77, of Lake City, Tennessee, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010, at Summit View Health Care.  She was born June 30, 1932, in Anderson County, Tennessee, to the late James and Lake Francis Vowell.  She was a member of the Lake City United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed crocheting, needle point, and spending time with family and friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Owsley, Brother, Elbert Sonny Vowell.

Survivors:  Sons, John Owsley and Wife Sarah of Oak Ridge, Mark and Wife Linda of Lake City, Daughters, Ginger Smiddy and Husband Ronnie of Briceville, Angie Connaster of Briceville, Lake McCoy and Husband Steve of Lake City, 12 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, four Nephews, and a host of other Relatives and Friends. 

Visitation Saturday, April 24, 2010, 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hatmaker Funeral Home followed by an 8:00 p.m. funeral in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David White officiating.  Family and friends will meet Sunday, April 25, 2010, at 10:15 a.m. at Hatmaker Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to Anderson Memorial Gardens in Clinton for the 11:00 a.m. interment.

David Wayne "Baldy" Madron age 57 of La Follette

David Wayne "Baldy" Madron, age 57, of La Follette passed away Sunday, April 25, 2010, at his home.  He enjoyed working, fooling with old cars, hunting, fishing, hanging out, and camping with friends.

Preceded in death by Parents, Lewis and Thelma Bruce Madron.

Thomas (Tom) Edward Hicks age 75 of Lake City, Tennessee

Thomas (Tom) Edward Hicks, age 75, went on to be with the Lord on Friday April 23, 2010.  He was born in Anderson County, Tennessee, where he resided with his Wife Autherine (Mosley) Hicks of 48 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake City.  Tom served in the Army for four years, receiving an Honorable Discharge.  He obtained a two-year college degree in Business Administration in Florida while serving in the Army.  He had been disabled for the last 19 years of his life and suffered from COPD.  Although upon meeting him, you would never have known the suffering.  Tom always had a smile on his face and a song in his heart.
Tom worked as a Machinist in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, then on to work in Anniston, Alabama.  Many remember him completing his working career with the Town of Lake City where he never met a stranger.  He loved his family, involving them in everything he did.  Tom was a very family oriented man, teaching them the meaning of 'Love' not only did he teach it, he lived it. His favorite thing to do was making Tin Men, known as (Tin Man Tom).  In the past, he had been involved in many activities such as: Jail Ministries, Nursing Home Ministries and Royal Ambassadors.  He was preceded in death by his (Dad) Robert Hicks, (Mother) Lourene (Wilson) Hicks, (Brother) John (Hickey) Hicks, (Sister) Norma Jean (Hicks) Hutchenson and Spiritual Mentors (Grandmother) Martha Wilson also his loving (Uncle) Edward (Ed)Wilson.

He left behind a Lovely Wife of 48 years Autherine (Mosley) Hicks of Lake City, Three Daughters Angelia (Angie) (Hicks) Shumaker and Husband Scott of Lake City, Connie (Hicks) Monday and Husband Randall of Knoxville,Tennessee, Thomasina (Hicks) Ward and Husband Scott of Lake City, Eight grand children, Michael Shumaker and Kysha, Angel Shumaker, Brandon Ward, Dustin Ward, Thomas (T.J.) Ward, Heather Davis and Husband T.J. , Joshua Spears, Step grand daughter Samantha Monday, five Great grand children, Hunter Davis, Taylor Davis, Trevor Davis, Katalyna Shumaker and Baby Jai, a host of family and friends (too many to mention).

Services will be held at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City, Sunday April 25, 2010,  from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.  Funeral will be held on Monday April 26, 2010 at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at the Long Field Cemetery with Military Honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.

Margaret Katherine Norman Wilson, age 93, of La Follette, passed away Monday, April 26, 2010, at her home.  She was a member of High Knob Baptist Church.  Mrs. Wilson loved her family and church very much.

Preceded in death by Husbands, Jack Norman and Carlos Wilson, Sons, Howard, Jackie, and Lawrence Norman, Parents, Wyley and Elizabeth Hatmaker, Brothers, Leon, George, Junior, and Roy Hatmaker, Sisters, Glenna Wright, Lois Baird, and Gladys Heatherly.

Faye Snow Burton age 94 formerly of La Follette, the Fincastle community, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at the Beech Tree Manor in Jellico.  She was a member of Glade Springs Baptist Church.  Mrs. Burton loved spending time with family and friends.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and attending church.

Early Byrge age 66 of Clinton, Tennessee, passed away Friday, April 23, 2010, at his residence.  He was born March 10, 1944, in Campbell County, Tennessee, to the late Callaway and Ollie Reynolds Byrge.  He was a member of the Mountain View Missionary Baptist Church.  he enjoyed raising hogs and chickens, wrestling, gardening, working and spending time with family and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Brothers, john, B.L., Jimmy, and Ernest Byrge, Sisters, Alice Byrge, Ellen Carroll, and Mary Bunch, Brother-in-laws, Harrison Bunch and Rullie Carroll, and special cousin, David Byrge.
