Thermal (Wayne) Cody August 25,1960-August 29,2010
Wayne was a happy fun loving person he was generous, caring, loved to laugh and smile, Wayne enjoyed the simple things in life, boating, swimming, riding his 4 wheeler, driving his 2000 Ram Air Trans Am "Black Widow", listening to music, Nascar, Being with his family, Eating Lobster, BBQ Ribs, watching Speed vision, Jerry Springer, setting on the front porch, drinking his Dr. Pepper & Mello Yello. He enjoyed working in the coalmines until the doctors told him he could never go back to work.  Wayne was a fighter, strong will to live he fought brain cancer 14 yrs, seizures, liver failure, until God said it is time to stop the fight and come home where there will be no more pain.  Wayne was loved so much by so many he will be missed everyday.
Wayne is the second child of Thermal & Martha Cody of Viper KY.  He is survived by his mother Martha Cody of Viper KY, 3 Brothers William (Bill) Cody of Viper, KY, Randall (Doc) and Wife Dawn Cody of Rydal, GA, Anthony (Bug) Cody of Viper KY

Phillip “Ray” Duncan age 73, retired businessman of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center of Knoxville. Ray was very active in local politics, having previously served as Mayor and currently serving as City Councilman of Lake City. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, and being around people. Ray is preceded in death by parents, Ed and Myrtle Duncan, sister, Peggy Duncan, brother-in-laws, Ron Poynter and George Johnson.

Cynthia Lynch, age 76 of Lafollette passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at the Mercy Residential Hospice in Halls. She was a member of Fundamental Baptist Church. Cynthia loved sewing and making quilts and loved her family very much.

Preceded in death by Parents: Jess and Nancy Williams Riggs. Brothers: Sam and Jess Riggs Jr. Sisters: Rosie Carroll, Lena Crisp, May Parker and Gracie Nelson.

Easter Lee “Bunny” Phillips, age 46, of Norris, passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 at Mercy North Hospital in Powell.  She was born March 29, 1964 in Ohio. She enjoyed painting with water colors, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.   Bunny was a member of the West Side Baptist Church.  She is preceded in death by her father, Vaughn West, her grand parents, George and Georgia Walker, and Teddy and Emma West.

He was born September 30, 1939 in Anderson County, TN to the late Ulys and Arbania Ensley Martin. He was a member of the Island Ford Baptist Church. George loved fishing, Nascar, building furniture, and spending time with his family and friends.

Dennis Vinsant age 58 of Jacksboro passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 at his home. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and great uncle. Dennis was a hard working man, who spent most of his life helping others. He loved spending time with family and friends.

Nancy Sue Gross Burton, age 60, of La Follette entered into eternal life, Monday, August 23, 2010 at St. Mary's Medical Center Of Campbell County. She attended West Walden Church of God. Nancy Sue was a very caring, loving person who tried to help so many in her life. She was loved by all who knew her. Her greatest joy came from her daughter and grandchildren.

Lindsay age 82 of LaFollette passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at LaFollette Court Assisted Living Community.  He was retired from South Central Bell after 38 years of service.  He was a member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church , Campbell County Masonic Lodge # 778 F. & A.M., and the Telephone Pioneers.  He enjoyed quartet singing, leading the church choir, motorcycles, horseback riding, cattle, farming, and people.  Preceded in death by parents Hugh and Bertha Lindsay, sisters and brothers, Opal Lindsay, Agnes Gross, Bonnie Gross, Robert Lindsay, and Hudon Overbay .

Miracle age 82 of LaFollette passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at St. Mary’s Medical Center of Campbell County.  She retired as a Licensed Practical Nurse serving over 45 years, a member of UMWA, and a member of East LaFollette Baptist Church .  Preceded in death by husband, Rufus, son, William C. Miracle, parents, Enoch and Susie Thornton Griffith, brother, Franklin D. Griffith.

Linda Lou Watson, age 67 of Lafollette departed this life on Monday, August 16, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center of Knoxville. She was a member of West Walden Church of God. Linda loved going to church and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and children. She also enjoyed taking rides through the mountains.

Jerry Tackett, age 52 of Jacksboro passed away suddenly Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in Campbell County. Mr. Tackett was a member of Beech Fork Baptist Church. Rev. Don Reynolds, age 88, of LaFollette passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 at St. Mary’s Select Specialty in Knoxville.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksboro, U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, member of Campbell County Masonic Lodge and retired carpenter.  He was a retired Baptist minister after 56 years of service. Thirty-six years of his ministry was at Glade Springs Baptist Church. Also pasturing Bethlehem and Highcliff Baptist Churches. He was very active in helping his community. He helped found the Campbell County Salvation Army. 

Preceded in death by wife, Beulah Housley Reynolds; daughter, Phyllis Sharp; several brothers & sisters.

Cordell “Eddie” Edwards, my wonderful husband and my best friend, age 85, a resident of Lake City went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.  He was born April 21, 1925 to the late James and Grace Grubb Edwards in the Dyllis Community in Harriman, TN where he grew up on a farm.  Cordell was a beloved brother of a large family where he learned at a young age the value of a strong work ethic.
Cordell was a member of the Clinch River Baptist Church.  He was also an honorary member of the Dyllis Baptist Church where he enjoyed working so much with Bob Branson and the Pastor cleaning up the property and building a parking lot.  Cordell truly treasured church and his church family.He attended Wheat High School and was the last graduating class of the school in 1943.  Cordell was a self-made business man.  He and his wife moved to Lake City in the early 50’s and owned and operated Edwards Shell Station, Edwards Trucking Company for over 20 years and HRS Hydraulic and Machine Shop now Unlimited Fluid Power operated by Tim Isbel, whom he considered an adopted son.  They designed and built machines for various companies and have machines all over the world.  Cordell was always proud of his age, enjoyed the outdoors, optimistic, loved children, loved family get-togethers and enjoyed life to the fullest.  He was an avid sports fan.  He and his wife attended UT football games faithfully and in 1998 attended the National Championship game.  He also enjoyed the Lady Vols, men’s basketball and the Indianapolis Colts. Cordell and his wife loved to travel and spent the winter months in Florida.  Cordell always worked hard his whole life.  He was truly dedicated to all that he did and was a very gentle, kind, caring and giving person who deeply loved life.Cordell was preceded in death by his parents, James and Grace Edwards; brothers, Winfred Edwards and Giles Edwards.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Wilma Ray Edwards; brother, Browder Edwards and wife Janice (deceased) of Harriman, TN; sisters, Mary Lambert and husband Willard of Huntsville, AL, Nina Bennett and husband Swanson of McMinnville, TN and Lois Smith and husband Luell of Springfield, TN; sisters-in-law, Glenda Edwards of Waco, TX; Polly Parks of Oak Ridge, TN and Kathleen Carter of Knoxville, TN. He and his wife had no children but he was a father figure to many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends that were involved in his life.  Very special nieces, Kim Santas and Kristin McPherson, whom he considered as a grand daughter and spent lots of time with the family. They enjoyed traveling together and always went to Bible School.  Also very special whom he considered as an adopted daughter, Linda Barnes and  Several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and many friends.  Special friends, Lester and Mickey Fox family, Tim and Tina Isbel family, Bob and Ann Swisher family, George McGrew, Bob Martin, Doug Hawn, Bear Stephenson, Steve and Kathy Fowler and Earl and Polly Jordan, Sara Knight, and Pat and Sid Albright. Special thanks to his brother Browder for all the sincere help. We will truly miss his smile, his joyful ways of making people happy and his spontaneous sense of humor.  He is in heaven now at peace in the arms of the angels.

Walter Wilson, age 91 of Lafollette passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Mercy Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a deacon and member of Duff Baptist Church. Walter was a great lover of crossword puzzles and his family was his life. He was a veteran of World War II and he retired from TVA Forestry Division.

(Bill) Ellison in 3rd grade.  She moved back to Akron to live with her father, who had remarried, when she was about 10, then later returned to Speedwell to attend Lincoln Memorial University , where she reunited with her childhood sweetheart, Bill.  She was a straight A student and a chemistry major in college and worked on the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge during WWII.  She and Bill were married August 10, 1945 after he served as a medic in England in the war.  They then moved to Indiana , and later Iowa , then back to Tennessee , which was always home.  Throughout her life, Marjorie was always very social and active in many clubs including bridge clubs, Tri Kappa, gardening clubs, book clubs, and investment clubs.  She loved to help those less fortunate, and volunteered for many charities, including the Soup Kitchen at Church Street Methodist Church and Ramsey House.  Marjorie also loved to garden and grew lots of beautiful flowers in her yard.  She was an avid antique lover and filled her home with beautiful antiques she found in her explorations of little out of the way places.  She was an excellent cook and loved old movies.  In their later years, she and her beloved husband Bill traveled the world.  They had a wonderful life as they were always surrounded by the best of friends and lived each day to the fullest.  Theirs was a storybook marriage.  Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, Mackie Brown Pierce and Verlin Pierce, and her husband of 56 Years, William H. (Bill) Ellison. 

 

She is survived by daughter, Holly Ellison and son, Jeff Ellison of Knoxville , daughter-in-law, Debra Ellison, grandchildren, Will and Haley Ellison, nieces and nephews, Anne and Frank Mickey of Bethesda , MD , and Marshall, Betsy, and Charlie Ellison of Fairfax , VA.

 

Private graveside services will be held at Ellison Cemetery in Speedwell, TN.  The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O.
