JERLENE AYERS ROACH CARNEYof Jacksboro, TN, age 85, went to be with her Savior on May 3, 2018. Born September 30, 1932, in Stinking Creek, Tennessee, she is the daughter of the late John Ayers and Lassie Ayers Baird.
Preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, John Ayers, Jr., her husband, Joe Roach, and nephews, John Robert Ayers, and John Wesley Ayers

She was a member of the Lafollette Church of God for 73 years and was the organist there for 30 years. Jerri and her family ran several restaurants in the Lafollette, Caryville, and Jellico communities. She was active in the Republican Party as well as the community and many charities.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Ray Carney, and his 2 grandchildren, Dr. Greg Carney and wife, Dr. Marie Carney, and Dr. Shannon Carney and husband James, as well as 6 great grandchildren.
Jerlene has 2 brothers and their wives, Haskel “Hack” Ayers and Tomi , R. L. Ayers and Helen, a step sister, Carolyn Baird Human and husband Joe, all of Jacksboro, TN.
She is also survived by her nieces and their husbands, Debra Nelson Lawson and Jerry, Traci Dower and JJ, Codi Provins and Paul, Angie Greer and Phillip, Joye Smith and Michael, Jamie Wheeler, and Christie Carroll. From these nieces came 19 great nieces and nephews.
A big thank you goes out to her special friends and caretakers, Marie Albright and Janice Starrett, who made her days so much more comfortable by allowing her to be home with her husband Ray for her last years.
