The news of the sudden passing of Campbell County School Board Member Mike Orick traveled fast last night.  The call to E-911 came in at 8:13 pm Tuesday night of a death at a home on Harmony Drive at Jacksboro.  Orick represented the fourth district for the board of education for many years.  He also served as chairman of the board on at least two different occasions.

Back in the winter, Orick suffered life threatening injuries in a fall at his home.  However, he did recover.

Due to his injuries, Orick was forced to miss some school board meetings; which was rare for him.  He made special effort to get back as soon as he could to meetings saying he didn’t want anyone to think he did not support newly appointed Director of Schools Jennifer Fields.  Orick said, “She will do a wonderful job, and she needs to know that I fully support her.”

Family members have requested prayer.

Orick leaves behind his wife Jennifer and a host of sisters and brothers. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/06/2018-6AM)
