Two Campbell Countians are dead this afternoon stemming from a domestic dispute.

The call of a person shot came in to E-911 around 2:30 pm this afternoon. Deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department quickly responded to a home on Chapman Crest Road.  That’s off Old Highway 63 near Judy’s Grocery in Fincastle. Sheriff Robbie Goins tells WLAF that that’s where a husband shot his wife to death.

The woman is identified as 54-year old Rosebud Heatherly of La Follette.

The sheriff details that when deputies arrived, the suspect was actually out in the front yard of the home waving a gun around.   Goins adds that the suspect would not respond to any of the officers’ commands.  After about half-an-hour, shots were exchanged, and the suspect was hit.

A source close to WLAF has confirmed that the husband died around 4:30 pm this afternoon.  The responding officers, a member of the sheriff’s department and a Drug Task Force officer, were not injured.

The man is identified as 64-year old Lloyd Michael “Mike” Heatherly of La Follette.

The two officers involved have been placed on administrative leave with pay, which is standard procedure.  Attorney General Jared Effler has requested that the TBI take over the investigation.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/25/2018-5:30PM)
