Merita Faye Mowell Head, 79, of Athens, died Friday, August 10, 2018 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
She was a native of Jacksboro, TN and longtime resident of Athens, and was the daughter of the late John and Helen Hatmaker Mowell.
She was a member of Cumberland View Baptist Church. Faye was associated with L&M Motors as Office Manager for the past 43 years.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Paul Head of Athens; two daughters and one son-in-law, Gail and Mike Higdon and Teresa Head all of Athens; one grandson, Dr. John Higdon of Athens; one brother-in-law, Mike Head of Frederick- town, MO;  several nieces and nephews; and special cousins, Janice Sweat, Judy Freeman, and Deb Cordell.
A funeral service will be conducted, 8:00 pm, Tuesday, August 14, 2018 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Ray Wilson officiating. The committal service will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday at Cumberland View Cemetery in Jacksboro, TN.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm prior to the service.
