Arvilee Grant, age 88 of Knoxville, and formerly of LaFollette, TN, passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, a Deacon and longtime member of Second Presbyterian Church, a teacher in the Sunday School of Second Church, and was Co-Chair of the 200th Anniversary Committee. Arvilee served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was past Commander of the Scottish American Military Society. A Past President of the Scottish Society of Knoxville and the past “Poet” of the Scottish Tarbolton Club. Arvilee is preceded in death by his parents, Fletcher and Ethel Grant and sister, Helen Grant Cordell. Arvilee is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Grant; brother, Ralph Grant; sisters, Pauline Grant Norfleet and Robbie Grant Heltsley, both of Nashville, TN; much loved nieces and nephews, grandnieces and nephews. A Celebration of Arvilee’s life will be held 11:30 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Second Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Tim Reynolds officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30, preceding the service. A private inurnment will follow at Sunrise Cemetery, LaFollette, TN.
