Garland E. Rutherford passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 13, 2018.

Garland was born in Keokee, Virginia in 1934.  In 1956, he honorably served on active duty in the United States Army, including a tour of duty in South Korea from 1957-1959.  After the Army, he married and moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he attended seminary.  Later, he became the youth Pastor at Northline Baptist Church in Taylor, Michigan, while also working for Imperial Cartage in Detroit.  In the early sixties, he moved his family to Tennessee and began working for Austin Powder Company.  As a young man, he wanted to own his own business, which he did in the mid-1970s until retirement in 1992.  He owned several establishments in the Campbell County area.

He is preceded in death by father and mother Garland and Edna (Partin) Rutherford; brothers Bob and Calvin Rutherford; sisters Wanda Stump and Betty Lou Rutherford.

He is survived by the love of his life Tomalee Fraley of LaFollette; daughters Faith McCullah & husband Danny of Harriman, Tennessee, Hope Tillotson & husband Rance of Winston Salem, North Carolina; son Dean Dillon & wife Susie of Gunnison, Colorado; loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; special friend Randall Walker of Dayton, Ohio.

Visitation will be 12:30 PM – 2 PM Saturday, September 15, 2018 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home followed by funeral service at 2 PM with Rev. Jacob Cochran officiating.  Following funeral service friends and family will go in procession to Campbell Memorial Gardens for interment.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Elie Mansour for his outstanding care and friendship throughout the years.
