You’ve heard this since you were a youngster, “this is only a test.”  Well, today is test day over radio, television and your cellphone.   This afternoon, WLAF radio and television, along with thousands of other radio and television stations, participates in a scheduled nationwide emergency alert test.  The test also takes place over most cellphones.

The cellphone test happens at 2:18 pm ET while the EAS test on radio and television follows at 2:20 pm.  It’s a joint effort of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the FCC (the Federal Communications Commission) for the nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA).

This is the fourth nationwide EAS test and the first nationwide WEA test.  CLICK HERE to read all the details.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/03/2018-6AM)
