State Representative Dennis Powers (R-Jacksboro) received an endorsement from the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) Political Victory Fund (PVF) in the Tennessee District 36 House Race on Monday.

Powers was also recognized by the NRA-PVF with an “A” rating for his support of Second Amendment issues and for being a solid pro-gun/pro-hunting candidate who has fought to uphold the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

This endorsement is important to the Powers campaign because NRA members have historically supported conservative candidates at the polls who have fought to protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.

“It is an incredible honor to receive this prestigious endorsement from the NRA as I seek re-election in November,” said Representative Powers.
“Throughout my time serving in our General Assembly, I have fought to ensure the Second Amendment rights of our law-abiding citizens are never
infringed upon. I pledge to continue those efforts in the years ahead, and I appreciate the NRA’s partnership because together, I know we will find
new ways to support our legal gun owners, sportsmen, and small business owners.”

During the 2018 legislative session, Powers sponsored an initiative creating a sales tax weekend for firearms and ammunition over a three-day
period in early September. The overall goal of the legislation was to support Tennesseans as they exercise their constitutional rights, make gun
