Dreary weather.  Dreary night.  Dreary game.  West dashed Campbell’s post season hopes and chance at a winning season on Friday night at Dossett Stadium.   The Rebs did not play like a team with a 3 & 6 record.  Without question, the breaks did not go the way of the Cougars on Friday night and the season for that matter.

Perhaps the turning pointing of the game was when Campbell trailed 7 – 0 early in the second quarter, was driving for a score and lost a tussle for a pass at the doorstep of the east end zone.  Minutes later, West turned that interception into a touchdown and 14 – 0 edge.

West went on to win 35 to 7.

However, despite the loss, the door to the playoffs was still cracked open.  If Karns beat Clinton on the Beavers home turf, Campbell’s season would get new life and qualify for the fourth spot out of the region for the playoffs.  That didn’t workout either.  Clinton outpaced Karns 39 – 33.

The Cougars season, that likely saw more adversity, injuries and challenges than Coach Justin Price’s first seven seasons combined, concludes at 4 & 6 and 2 & 4 in the region.
