Mark Troutman, a one-time local attorney, appeared in criminal court yesterday on a violation of probation.

In 2017, he pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted theft over $60,000 and two counts of attempted theft over $10,000.

At that time, he was given a 15-year probation term and 500-hours of community service.

Troutman was also to pay one of his victims’ $4,207.04 restitution as part of the plea agreement.

However, he fell behind his monthly $100 payments, according to a petition to revoke Troutman’s probation that was filed by the Eighth Judicial District Attorney General’s office on Aug. 15, 2018.

As of that filing, Troutman had paid $900 to his victim, but was $600 behind in payments.

Since the initial filing, Troutman has allegedly been working to catch up those payments. When he appeared in court on Tuesday, his case was reset for Jan. 28, 2019, for another review.

Troutman’s law license was suspended indefinitely following his 2017 plea.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/14/2018-6AM)

  1. And if it was anyone other than a “big name” in Campbell Co, they would have been gone after violating probation. We read about it and see it all the time. The justice system, HA! Should be the favoritism system!
