Short Street in west La Follette was reopened around 2 pm this afternoon.  It had been shut down for more than two-hours while firefighters with the LFD battled a house fire.

Firefighters and First Responders with the La Follette Fire Department answered the call of  a house fire on Short Street just after 11:30 am Friday morning.  The fire was contained to one room, though the home at 406 Short Street suffered heat and smoke damage elsewhere according to LFD Assistant Fire Chief Jimmy Pack.  The home is a street over from West La Follette Baptist Church.

The fire call came in at 11:37 am.
