For a man who has been on the run for a while and was wanted in four different counties, Derrick Chitwood went peacefully when police finally caught up with him at a Jacksboro home last Wednesday.

Campbell County Sheriff’s  Deputy Sergeant Joe Hopson, acting on an anonymous tip, drove to the home on Leaf Lane at Jacksboro where Chitwood was believed to be.  Though Hopson had been to the same house several times before to no avail, this time Chitwood was there.

Hopson made contact with Chitwood’s girlfriend at the house who allegedly told the officer Chitwood was in the back bedroom.  The sergeant located Chitwood standing in the bedroom and quietly took him into custody.

The 35-year old Chitwood, who lists the Leaf Lane location as his primary address, is wanted in Campbell, Roane, Anderson and Morgan counties.  He faces violation of probation in Campbell County out of General Sessions Court and Criminal Court.

Chitwood remains in the Campbell County Jail this morning without bond.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/06/2019-6AM)
