For three of Brad Honeycutt’s five years as the head coach of the Lady Cougars of Campbell High, it’s come down to his Lady Cougars and the Oak Ridge Lady Wildcats for the district tournament championship.  This year is no different. Tip off is 7:30 pm tonight at Karns High School.

“These are two of the best teams in the state, and Oak Ridge (28 & 2) is not ranked second in the state by accident,” said Honeycutt.  “They’ve had a really good year.”

The Lady Cougars practiced for a couple of hours Monday morning after resting up on Sunday.  The two time district coach of the year thinks his team is ready to roll and hopes the Lady Cougars can come in at Karns a little bit more focused than they did at their place (Prudden Court).

“They (Oak Ridge) had a good game plan against us last time, and I expect to see much the same tonight.  I’m not sure what they would adjust.  We’re the ones who need to be making adjustments,” Honeycutt pointed out.

Coach ‘Cutt wants his team to come in mentally stronger.  In addition, the three areas of most importance for the Lady Cougars (27 &3)  are taking care of the ball, boxing out and getting back in transition.

The bus pulls out from CCHS this afternoon at 5 pm.  Fans are encouraged to  caravan with the Lady Cougars who are hoping for a lot of fans to show up in west Knoxville for the 7:30 pm game.

The WLAF – B & M Tires brings you all the action starting at 7:20 pm over AM 1450 and FM 100.9.  The live telecast airs over 1450wlaf.com.  The Voice of the Cougars, Josh Parker, has the call.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/19/2019-6AM)
