Very few businesses have the distinction of a world wide reputation. One of those is located in the heart of downtown LaFollette- Pyro Shows, Inc.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the fireworks company that towns from LaFollette to Stockholm, Sweden to Taipei, Taiwan call when they want to celebrate will be honored today. At noon, the Campbell County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Ribbon Cutting and 50th Birthday Celebration for Pyro Shows at its 115 North First Street, LaFollette location.

In 1969, Lansden Hill began the fireworks business as Big Creek Enterprises and later changed the company name to Pyro Shows, Inc.

Since that time, Hill has grown the business and expanded the crews to keep up with the ever growing demand for the Pyro Shows brand of entertainment. Along with its Tennessee office, the company has locations in Alabama and Texas. Aside from the shows provided by the local company each year, Pyro Shows also offers training classes.

While the company has had several shows of note, it has had the honor to provide the 4th of July fireworks at the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. for 13 times since 1995.
